自20世纪80年代到21世纪初,格非的文学身份经历了多重转变。最初,格非是先锋文学的领军人物之一,凭借一部部不俗的先锋小说蜚声文坛;此后,他搁笔转行,进入大学教书,专注于文学理论研究;21世纪以来,他重返文学创作之路,以中国古典文学为资源,重返诗性叙事的河流,开启新的叙事探索。关于格非重返诗性传统的创作研究,当前学界研究者的目光基本集中在《红楼梦》《金瓶梅》等古典小说对格非创作的影响上,至于废名等现代作家对格非的理论研究与小说创作的影响,则在很大程度上被忽视了,对于格非的博士学位论文《废名的意义》予以的关注更是少之又少。因此,本文抓住当前的研究缺口,把格非的废名研究和小说创作视为一个研究整体,考察两者的关联性和互动性,在格非本人的小说叙事理论研究的基础上,厘清格非如何继承废名小说的精神底色,如何继续向浩渺的文学叙事传统回溯等关键问题。文学研究和文学创作的联动,是进入格非的小说叙事研究的一条特殊的路径,有助于把握格非在诗性叙事传统中“重建”和“再造”的全过程。

本文的第一章“诗的探寻:从废名出发”,阐释了格非走向诗性叙事传统的缘起。格非选择废名小说作为博士学位论文的对象,既有时代发展的推动,也有个人经历上的机缘巧合。除此之外,更为重要的原因是,废名的小说根植于诗性叙事传统,这为当时处于创作瓶颈期的格非指明了写作方向。在《废名的意义》中,格非将研究的焦点放到了废名小说与诗性叙事传统的关系上,具体分析了废名小说对诗性叙事传统的现代性探索。本文的第二章以“怎么写”为切入点,围绕“语言:拟诗之韵”“意象:造诗之境”“留白:传诗之意”三个方面,以格非在21世纪以来的小说作品为主要文本,具体分析格非在何种程度上受到了废名小说叙事的影响,他又是如何以废名为“桥”,进行诗性叙事的现代性探索的。第三章“从废名到格非:诗性叙事的传承和流变”,对格非小说诗性叙事的现代性探索作总体性的阐述。在重返传统的路上,格非继承了废名的诗性叙事手法过程中不断创新,在扬弃中探索新方法。当然,在这条传承与创新的路上,格非遇到了很多困难,在中西叙事方式的融会处理上也有瑕疵,但他从未停止叙事探索的脚步,他在继承诗性叙事“小传统”的基础上,向“大传统”靠拢,实现了小说叙事的内在超越,重建现代中国式诗意。

From the 1980s to the 21st century, Ge Fei's literary career undergone many transformations. At first, he was one of the leading figures in Pioneer Literature and became famous in the literary world with his numerous pioneer novels. Later, he quit writing and became a scholar focusing on theoretical studies of literary narrative. Since the new century, he returned to the path of literary creation using the poetic narrative tradition as a resource. In the study of Ge Fei's return to the poetic tradition, now, other academic researchers is mainly on the impact of classical novels such as The Dream of Red Mansions and The Plum in the Golden Vase on Ge Fei's creation, while the impact of modern writers such as Fei Ming on Ge Fei's theoretical research and novel creation has been largely ignored. Occasional studies about Fei Ming are sketchy, and even there is little mention of Ge Fei’s doctoral dissertation on Fei Ming, The Meaning of Fei Ming. Therefore, this paper proceed from this blank in current research, regards the study of Fei Ming and Ge Fei's novel creation as a whole, examines the correlation and interaction between the two, and on the basis of the study of Ge Fei's literary narrative theory, makes clear how Ge Fei inherited Fei's will to create, and how he continued to trace back to the vast literary narrative tradition with Fei Ming as the forerunner. The linkage between literary research and literary creation is a special path into Ge Fei's novel narrative research, which helps to grasp the entire process of Ge Fei's "reconstruction" and "reconstruction" in the poetic narrative tradition.

The first chapter of this article, "Exploration of Poetry: Starting from Fei Ming," narrates the origin of Ge Fei's move towards the tradition of poetic narration. The reason why Ge Fei chose Fei Ming's novels as the subject of his doctoral thesis was driven by the development of the times and personal experience. However, more importantly, Fei Ming's novels were rooted in the tradition of poetic narrative, which pointed out the writing direction for Ge Fei, who was in the bottleneck period of creation at that time. In "The Meaning of Fei Ming", Ge Fei focuses his research on the relationship between Fei Ming's novels and the poetic narrative tradition, and specifically analyzes Fei Ming's novels' exploration of modernity in the poetic narrative tradition. The second chapter of this article takes "how to write" as the starting point, focusing on three aspects: "language: the rhyme of the imitation poem ", "image: the scene of the creation of poetry ", and "the blank space: conveying the meaning of poetry". It focuses on the novels of Ge Fei's return to the poetic narrative tradition, specifically analyzing to what extent he was influenced by the narrative of Fei Ming novels, and how he used Fei Ming as a bridge to explore the modernity of poetic narrative. Chapter Three is named "From Fei Ming to Ge Fei: The Inheritance and Evolution of Poetry," comprehensively elaborates on Ge Fei's exploration of the modernity of his poetic narrative tradition based on the previous two chapters. Although Ge Fei encountered many difficulties in exploring the modernity of poetic narrative and had some deviations in the integration of Chinese and Western narrative methods, he never stopped exploring. On the basis of inheriting the "small tradition" of poetic narrative, he approached the "big tradition" and achieved the internal transcendence of novel narrative, constructing contemporary poetic China.
