With the intensification of social competition and increasing academic pressure, mental health issues among college students have become increasingly prominent. As a leading teacher-training institution, the Zhuhai Campus of Beijing Normal University, a top-tier university in China, faces pressures from academics, employment, and interpersonal relationships among its student population. Therefore, studying the impact of physical exercise on mental health holds significant practical relevance and importance. This study, employing literature review, questionnaire surveys, and mathematical analysis, explores the relationship between physical exercise and mental health among undergraduate students at the Zhuhai Campus of Beijing Normal University. The research findings indicate: 1) There are gender differences in the relationship between physical exercise and mental health. Male students tend to prefer moderate exercise, while female students prefer light exercise. The mental health level of female students is generally lower than that of male students. 2) The impact of different levels of physical exercise on college students' mental health also differs. Moderate exercise has a significant positive effect on college students' mental health, helping them relieve stress and improve emotional states. However, for female students, high-intensity exercise may bring more benefits to mental health. 3) Students from different grades also show some differences. Lower-grade students are more suitable for moderate exercise, while upper-grade students may prefer high-intensity exercise, which is closely related to their daily life pressures. 4) Both individual and group exercise have significant positive impacts on mental health at moderate levels, with group exercise being more beneficial to mental health than individual exercise. By exploring the relationship between physical exercise and mental health among college students, this study provides a reference for college students to engage in scientific physical exercise, aiming to effectively address mental health issues among them. |
