In the past three years, the epidemic has had a significant impact on enterprises, leading to a decline in the economic environment. This has resulted in large layoff policies being adopted by industries such as the Internet and games to reduce costs, which has unfortunately led to a significant increase in unemployment. Not only the unemployed, but also employees facing layoffs and recent graduates entering the workforce are under great pressure to find jobs. On the other hand, In terms of personal career development, with the rise of emerging technology industries and the increase in social sophistication, people's thoughts about careers and the match between their own characteristics and career development have become more prominent than in the past. Various new-age lifestyles such as freelancers, entrepreneurs and digital immigrants have also become the choice of the underemployed. However, previous psychological studies have suggested that unemployment can have a negative impact on people's well-being. Therefore, most interventions aim to help individuals find employment. However, little attention has been paid to the specific causes of unemployment or the various factors that affect motivation to find a job. Additionally, there are few studies on interventions that target self-regulation of job-searching motivation.

This study examines the relationship between self-compassion and five dimensions of self-regulation motivation in the job search process. The dimensions include autonomous motivation to search, controlled motivation to search, amotivation to search, autonomous motivation not to search, controlled motivation not to search, and intervenes through the online self-help compassion course "Positive Self" to test the effect and mechanism of self-compassion in reducing Controlled motivation to search. Compared to the waiting group (N=83), the intervention group (N=134) showed a significant improvement in self-compassion. Additionally, the intervention group showed Significance Level Borderline in self-realization and Controlled motivation for job search. However, there were no significant changes in self-esteem,  Controlled motivation to search, amotivation to search, Controlled motivation not to search. Regarding the mediating mechanism, the pre- and post-test changes in the intervention group confirmed that self-compassion can directly influence the Controlled motivation to search through three pathways: self-esteem to self-actualization, Self-Esteem and Self-Realization. Self-compassion can impact through Self-Esteem and have direct effects on amotivation to search and controlled motivation not to search to apply for a job. Generally, the study found that self-compassion had a negative correlation with controlled motivation to search, amotivation to search, and controlled motivation not to search. Self-esteem and self-realization were found to play some mediating roles. The study suggests that curriculum intervention can improve self-compassion and reduce controlled motivation for job search to some extent. This intervention can be used as a supplementary program to intervene in the controlled motivation to search.

This study is the first to examine self-compassion, self-esteem, self-actualization and job search self-regulatory motivation (autonomous motivation to search, controlled motivation to search, amotivation to search, autonomous motivation not to search, controlled motivation not to search) at the same time, The relationship between self-compassion and self-regulation motivation for job searching is briefly explained. In addition, this study explored and verified the effects and underlying mechanisms of the intervention course, especially in the effect of self-compassion on the controlled motivation to search, and the mediating role of self-esteem and self-actualization.
