“Legend of White Snake” belongs to Four Folk Legend of China. The sad but beautiful love story of Bai Niangzi and Xu Xian has been passed on and evolved for thousands of years, which makes it consist of properties of different eras. Through the creation and change of white snake appeared in Chinese literatures, This paper will reveal the change of morality and notions about women in different eras and the artistic meaning which the figure of white snake shows to us.
