本文为基于民航通信文本的译后编辑实践报告,源语文本为美国航空无线电技术委员会(RTCA, Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics)的研究报告Assessment of C-Band Mobile Telecommunications Interference Impact on Low Range Radar Altimeter Operations(中文译名:《C频段移动通信信号干扰对近程雷达高度表运行的影响评估》)。该报告主要内容为:(1)提出移动通信射频信号对民用航空通信存在干扰的假设;(2)通过实验探究射频干扰来源,并对事故严重性进行量化分析;(3)基于分析结果,比较不同类别的民航飞机及不同型号的机载雷达高度表的干扰容限;(4)结合研究与经验归纳出5G射频干扰对不同类别民航飞机的影响程度,并给出可以降低干扰风险的解决方案。随着近年我国航空领域5G网络应用的逐渐普及,该报告的研究方法与结论对于合理规划、调整我国的5G通信网络建设,保障民用航空运输安全具有重要参考意义。 此次翻译实践项目采用“机器翻译+译后编辑”(MTPE)的模式进行,源语文本属于科技文本,具有专业性较强、语言凝练、逻辑严密等特点,同时在词句表达方面兼具民航与通信专业特色,对于译者而言有一定难度。本文尝试从科技文本的普遍特征以及项目文本的自身特点出发,结合译例,归类分析了此次翻译项目中机器翻译在词汇、语句层面出现的主要问题。词汇方面,机器翻译主要存在专业术语等词汇翻译错误,笔者制定了分级查证策略,通过查阅专业词典或术语库、参考平行文本等方法进行修改;语句方面,机器翻译主要出现了与句子成分、句式结构相关的翻译错误,笔者尝试根据其不同的错误来源进行分类,在译后编辑时,基于对文本中复杂长句的分析,综合使用倒译法、拆译法等多种翻译方法等进行修改;此外,笔者也发现,标点符号误判也是机器翻译错误的来源之一,需要在译后编辑时重点注意。最后,本文基于翻译项目建立术语表,并对翻译经验做出总结,希望可以为后续同类翻译工作提供参考。 |

This report is based on the post translation practice of civil aviation & communication related text. The source text is extracted from Assessment of C-Band Mobile Telecommunications Interference Impact on Low Range Radar Altimeter Operations, a research report by the Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics (RTCA). The main contents of the report are: (1) the hypothesis of potential interference from 5G communication RF signals to civil aviation communications; (2) the quantitative analysis of RF interference sources and possible accidents through experimental studies; (3) the comparison of the interference tolerance of different categories of civil aircraft and different models of airborne radar altimeters against RF signals of specific frequency band based on quantitative analysis; (4) the data on the degree of impact of 5G RF interference on different categories of civil aircraft and the solutions that can reduce the risk of interference. At a time when 5G applications in China’s aviation are gradually expanding, the research methods and conclusions of this RTCA report are of important reference for the development and adjustment of China’s 5G communication network, as well as the enhancement of civil aviation transportation safety. The translation project adopts the mode of “Machine Translation + Post Editing” (MTPE). The source material is a scientific and technical text with the characteristics of strong professionalism, condensed language and strict logic, as well as the characteristics of civil aviation and communication disciplines in terms of words and expressions, posing high requirements and challenges to the translators. With reference to translation examples, this report attempts to classify and analyze the main defects of online machine translation at the lexical and syntactic levels demonstrated in the project by considering the general linguistic characteristics of technical texts and the specific features of the project texts. In lexical aspect, the machine translation shows translation errors mainly in specialized terms and common multi-sense terms. The author adopts a graded checking strategy during the post editing process, modifying the translation by referring professional dictionaries, terminology databases, and parallel texts. In syntactic aspect, the machine translation shows deficiencies mainly in the handling of sentence components and sentence structure. The author tries to classify them according to the different sources of errors, and modifies them in the post editing process based on the analysis of complex long sentences and the comprehensive use of various translation methods such as inversion and deconstruction. In addition, the author also finds that punctuation miscalculation is also one of the sources of errors in machine translation, which requires special attention during the process of post editing. Lastly, a glossary is compiled based on the source and translated texts, and a summary of the experience of post editing is made by the end of this report, in the hope that it may provide reference for similar translation work in the future. |
