本文提出了刘慈欣科幻小说崇高感如何生成这一问题,并通过叙事分析,尝试加以解决。刘慈欣是当前中国文化市场、文化研究领域最热门的作者之一,他的小说和由小说改编的影视化产品都取得了极大的成功。研究界已有较为丰富的研究成果,在其中,“崇高”通常被认为是刘慈欣科幻小说所呈现的核心美学特征,遗憾的是,尚未有文章对崇高感的生成进行系统而细致地分析,本文尝试填补这一重要空白。绪论部分,本文回顾了刘慈欣本人的创作历程,总结了学界当前对刘慈欣科幻小说的研究状况,简要梳理了崇高概念的历史演变及基本特征,介绍了本文的阐释立场、写作方法和写作目标。第一章以故事的时间跨度为依据,将刘慈欣科幻小说分成孤立事件、复杂事件、个人成长故事、文明毁灭故事四类,并各举一例展开详细地叙事分析。经分析发现,小说以剪断“金手指”的故事设定和历史笔法书写未来两种方式,同时描绘人的脆弱性和超越性,在脆弱与超越的对峙中塑造崇高形象、营造崇高感。第二章,在前文分析的基础上,总结出刘慈欣小说通过展示力量、表现超越性、为其死亡三个步骤塑造出“科技理性精神”、“想象的共同体”、“个体自由意志”三种崇高客体。第三章,将小说情节及其崇高感带入刘慈欣集中创作的世纪之交的文化语境中,通过与同时代其它科幻小说、不同时代的崇高叙事进行横纵向比较,分析刘慈欣小说如何在一个躲避崇高的年代使读者陷入崇高式的审美体验,其独特性表现在哪里,并讨论小说中塑造的崇高形象与古典意义上崇高的异同。论文结语部分,对刘慈欣科幻小说崇高感的生成机制进行总结,并对该崇高感的独特性及时代意义做出反思。

This project puts forward and manages to answer the question of how ‘the sublime’ in Liu Cixin’s Si-Fi novels produces by narrative analysis. Liu is one of the most popular of authors now in Chinese market and Chinese cultural research, and it has been a great success of both his novels themselves and adaptations of his works in other media. According to numerous studies of his works, ‘the sublime’ is generally considered as the core aesthetical feature. However, there are very few of researches focusing on how the ‘the sublime’ produces, and this project would manage to narrow this gap. In the first part, I would review the writing history of Liu, summarize conclusions of researchers that have been concluded, roughly introduce the evolution and basic features of the concept ‘sublime’, and then explain the standing, methodology and goals of this article. In Chapter one, based on the time span of Liu’s works, novels of his would be divided into four categories: single stories, complex stories, stories of individual development, and stories of civilization destruction. There would be an example discussed in details for each category, and a conclusion would be raised: Liu sets up ‘the sublime’ in the comparation of fragility and transcendence of human beings by cancelling the ‘protagonist aura’ and describing stories happened in the future in writing history. In Chapter two, based on prior arguments, in a progress of showing the power, highlighting the transcendence, and then dying for the power and the transcendence, three kinds of sublime conceptions in Liu’s works would be clarified: rational spirit of science, community of imagination, and free will of individuals. Then, after understanding the progress of how ‘the sublime’ of Liu’s works is generated from his own textual contexts, it becomes indispensable to compare the sense of sublime in Liu’s novels with those in other works in the same time and different era to explore the uniqueness of Liu’s sense of sublime. Therefore, in chapter three, I first compare Liu’s sense of the sublime with the sense of sublime in other works of the same period, and explore why Liu can let readers enjoy the reading experience of the sublime during late 90s and early 00s, a period when most Chinese people ignore the sense of sublime. Second, I will compare the differences between the images of the sublime characters in Liu's novels and those in the classical works. In conclusion, the general mechanism of Liu’s sublime would be summarized, and its characteristics and significances would be reflected.
