“葫芦僧”作为《红楼梦》第四回的关键人物，在推动情节发展及展现作者对官场和世俗宗教世界的态度上发挥了非常重要的作用。本文以《红楼梦》中的“葫芦僧”作为研究对象，分三部分对这一角色进行分析。其中第一章分析其在“葫芦案”中承担的数种角色，第二章利用媒介转换带来的新视角探讨人物的命运走向，第三章揭示这一人物身上的悲剧意蕴。

The monk of Hulu Temple was a key role in the chapter 4 of Dream of the Red Chamber, who had important effect in plots development and showing the author’s attitude of officialdom and secular religion. This thesis focus on the monk of Hulu Temple, and the first chapter combs three functions of the monk of Hulu Temple in the wrongful conviction. The second chapter discusses the character’ s destiny with the new perspective about media transformation. In the third chapter, the tragic connotation will be revealed from three different angles.
