Their light and dexterous bodies have strong aesthetic feeling, and their flying postures often evoke various associations among literati and writers. The imagery of flying bird appears frequently in Li Shangyin's poetry. These dexterous creatures are not just objects, but they also contain the poet's complex subjective sentiments, which accord with Li Yishan's self-identity perception and convey his deep spiritual aspirations. Based on thematology, this thesis explores the relationship between the specific bird imagery and themes in Li Shangyin's poetry, and examines the intrinsic connection between the creation background and the poet's personalities.
