“电影是时间又是空间的艺术”，它在艺术表现形式上，可以对时间和空间进行自由的发挥和变化，它就像电影剧作者与时空进行的一场游戏，既可以忠实于现实的时空特性，也可以运用缩短、延长现实时间和任意跳转空间等多种表现或组合手法，对时空进行艺术再创造。由此，在电影中，时空叙事呈现出了多样化的趋势，各式各样的叙事方式层出不穷，让电影叙事不再单一。然而，在电影剧本创作过程中，有一个“规则”是需要创作者遵守的，那就是选择什么样的时空叙事方式，是要取决于剧作者要表现的思想意图，最终的目的是更好的为电影的主题思想服务。
