这篇研究通过实验发现在噪音环境下不同类型的背景音乐对英语阅读理解和干扰注意的影响。实验为2*3的混合设计,包括三种背景条件(熟悉音乐,不熟悉音乐,无音乐),这个变量为被试间设计,以及两种难度的任务(简单英语阅读理解组,复杂英语阅读理解组),这个变量为被试内设计。在实验中,90名被试被随机分配到三种背景条件下的一种完成两个英语阅读理解任务,然后接受一个对干扰刺激的再认测试。结果发现:(1)英语阅读成绩在不熟悉音乐条件下最好,熟悉音乐条件下次之,无音乐条件下最差,但是在三种条件下没有显著差异;(2)在三种背景条件下,简单任务和复杂任务之间都有显著差异(3)在无音乐条件下,被试再认成绩最高是因为其更多地注意干扰刺激,因此说明,在干扰刺激下,音乐可以保护个体的注意不被分配到干扰刺激上,对阅读起到了保护的作用,但是在三种背景条件下,英语阅读成绩并没有显著差异,所以说音乐可能并无法促进英语阅读理解的成绩,但是能够保护注意资源不受到外界干扰刺激的影响。

The present study tried to find the effect of different types of music on English reading comprehension task and attention to the distracter under a noise environment through an experiment. A 2*3 design were employed by the experiment, including three conditions(familiar music, unfamiliar music ,no music)and it’s between-subject design,and two kinds of reading comprehension task(easy,difficult)and it’s within-subject design .In the experiment, 90 students were asked to do the two tasks in one of the three conditions, and then the participators received a recognition test about the distract. The result showed that :(1) The reading achievement with listening unfamiliar music is the best, and then is that with listening familiar music, the worst is that with listening nothing , but the difference between them is not significant ; (2) Under three music condition, there is difference between easy test and difficult test,and their differences are all significant; (3) Under no music, the recognition achievement is the best because the subjects give more attention on distract .So we can conclude that music can protect one’s attention from the distract when he is in a noisy environment, as if music just have an protective effect on attention. But under the three condition ,the reading comprehension achievement has no difference ,therefore we speculate that music can’t promote the achievement of reading comprehension ,but it can protect the attention from the distract.
