As one of the most famous books in the history of education and philosophy, the Republic had a big influence on political philosophy and education ideas of later ages. It is easy to find the relationship between Plato’s education idea, his view on the soul, and his political philosophy. Features such as stratified education, think highly of female and children education come from the views of the soul that people are born with different gifts; specific education methods such as music education, physical education and dialectic education come from his philosophical idea that the essence of education is to make people get closer toward the truth. His education system is based on his philosophy ideas, and his educational philosophy at the same time is the way to achieve his ultimate philosophy goal: to build an ideal and just city. Through education, a single person could become just, and the single person’s justice would lead to a just city. Plato’s education philosophy is based on his soul philosophy which believes that soul is immortal and people could gain knowledge through recalling, meanwhile his education methods is a practical way to turn his philosophy goal become true.
