In recent years, with the continuous improvement of the film market and the continuous upgrading of the film industry, more and more film types have been summarized, thus forming a stylized creation rule system under this type. However, with the maturity of the genre film model and system, more and more directors are dissatisfied with the limited creation under the genre framework, and begin to make breakthroughs and attempts to authorize and anti-genre creation in genre films. This article conducts a counter-type analysis of the representative figure of genre film-Hong Kong director Johnnie To’s representative work "Exile", discusses how the film author breaks through the restriction of genre, and highlights the alienated personal image style and author's thinking in the film.
