There is a phenomenon of "rewriting" in the creation of modern Chinese novels. In fact, the rewriting by modern Chinese writers is a kind of "dialogue field" writing connecting history, reality and self. The image of "exiles" is one of the typical character series in the "rewritten" novels. "Exile" refers to a state of "heterogeneity", and "exiles" are people who are in "heterogeneity". There are three basic forms of "exiles" in the "rewritten" novels: elopement, being?exiled or self-exile, and fugitive. This thesis will sort out the prosperity of modern Chinese "rewritten" novels, summarize and discuss the concept and measure of "rewriting", sort out and summarize the modern Chinese "rewritten" novels which rewrite the image of "exiles", analyse the text linking reality, make a detailed analysis of the rewriting of "exiles" by modern Chinese writers, understand how it has become the product of the reality, ideology and historical traditions of the times. Finally, through the above study, we will have a general understanding and grasp of the "rewriting" for the sake of reality and existence by modern Chinese writers. We will also understand the self of the modern Chinese standing between history and reality in the exploration of the homogeneity of themes, writing methods, writers and the times, and gain the enlightenment of the consciousness as "historical marginal man".
