自然地理环境和人文地理环境对作家的成长及其对地理事物的感知、文学作品的产生有基础性的影响。文学地理学关注文学与地理环境的关系，其研究思想在古今中外都有体现。近年来我国的文学地理学学科建设方兴未艾，相关研究成果丰硕。借助文学地理学的研究方法，着眼于地理环境与文学作品的互动关系，探寻作家在文学作品中描绘的地理意象、铺设的地理线索、构建的地理空间，感悟作家如何通过描绘地理景观、构建及转换地理空间从而讲述故事、塑造人物形象、表达情感、传达艺术主题，有助于更到位、更深刻地认识作家、解读文学作品。对叙述性文学作品而言，尤其如此。 欧内斯特·海明威是世界文学史上最著名、最受欢迎的作家之一，其代表作《老人与海》语言简练有力，故事寓意深刻，受到了国内外研究者的广泛关注。然而，在众多以不同方法开展的《老人与海》相关研究中，目前尚未发现有研究者运用文学地理学的方法和视角对《老人与海》进行解读。 因此，本文尝试运用文学地理学的研究视角，结合海明威的成长环境、生活经历，分析小说《老人与海》中的地理意象、地理叙事线索以及地理空间，以期获得对这部脍炙人口的巨作的新认识，并为推动文学地理学方法的应用、学科的发展作绵薄贡献。

Natural geographical environment and humanistic geographical environment play an important role to the growth of a writer and the formation of his sense of geographical phenomena as well as the creation of literary works. As a research method, literary geography focuses on the relationship between literature and geographical environment, and can be found in many research works completed at ancient and modern times, in eastern and western countries. In recent years, literary geography has been built into a cross-discipline in China, and related research has been flourishing. With the method of literary geography, looking into the inner relationship between geographical environment and literature will be helpful to understand writers and interpret literary works. Among the different genres of literature, narrative literary works are most likely to be interpreted from the perspective of literary geography. Analyzing how the writer depicts and converts geographical images and spaces, as well as how he paves geographical clues, one can gain better understanding of the stories, characters, artistic and aesthetic framework as well as theme of a narrative literary work. The Old Man and the Sea, a novella with profound meaning written in concise but mighty language, is a masterpiece of Ernest Hemingway, a famous and popular writer in the history of literature. The classic novella has aroused wide concerns of researchers and has been analyzed from different perspectives. However, its literary geographical interpretation has not been found so far. Therefore, this thesis is a new attempt to re-interpret The Old Man and the Sea from the perspective of literary geography. Geographical images, geographical clues and geographic spaces are analyzed under the context of the novella as well as taking into consideration of the growing environment and life experiences of Hemingway. Hopefully, this thesis will not only serve as a way to gain new understanding of The Old Man and the Sea, but it can also promote the application of literary geographical methods and the development of the subject.
