本文选取了湖北省武汉市境内3所独立学院的8名贫困生,从家庭内部、外部两个层面,对家庭社会资本如何影响教育选择进行了个案研究。研究主要特点在于尝试建立一种家庭社会资本的“软边界”,尝试一种“双环”分析框架。即,分别从家庭纬度出发,考虑这一利益共同体的外部社会资本如何影响教育选择;从贫困生个人纬度出发,重视家庭内部差异,探视家庭内部社会资本运作情况。两者在个案中各有体现,通过研究个案也观察出:家庭外部社会资本通常会影响信息获取、支持网络、乐观预期等,从而对教育选择产生影响,对社会资本在教育选择过程中的作用评估,会对教育选择行动产生再刺激;在教育选择过程中,受家庭内部互动关系、文化等结构性因素影响,家庭内部可能产生“代言人”,代言人对贫困生家庭教育选择产生主导作用,其教育选择过程可能受社会资本、成长经历、地域文化及个人价值取向方面的影响,值得后续研究讨论与关注。

This thesis centers upon eight poverty-stricken students from three independent institutes in Wuhan, Hubei, and carries out the case study of how the family social capital affects the educational choice from inside the family and outside. The main characteristic of the study is to attempt to establish a “soft boundary” for the family social capital within the “dual-loop” framework. The thesis first considers how the external social capital of a family influences on the educational choice, and then focuses upon the domestic diversity from the personal angle and how the social capital works within the family. Both are reflected in the case study. What’s more, external social capital exerts its influence on the educational choice through obtaining information, backing the Internet, optimistic expectation and so on. The evaluation of the influence will re-stimulate the educational choice. During the choosing process, a “representative” will emerge within the family due to factors like the domestic interactive relationship and family culture. The representative will play a dominant role on the educational choice of poverty-stricken families. That the choosing process is intertwined with the social capital, personal growth, regional culture and individual value is worth follow-up discussion and research.
