眨眼作为人体外界可见的生理活动,其与内在的心理活动和神经机制的关系得到了越来越多的关注。作为一种易检测的非侵入性测量方式,自发性眨眼频率表现出显著的个体差异,它既可以反应一种稳定的个人特质又受不同任务态的注意要求调节。作为个体特质指标,自发性眨眼频率与受多巴胺调控的认知活动的关联已经得到了许多验证此外,眨眼也可以作为注意状态的指标,个体的眨眼可能代表着内外注意指向的切换,在脑功能上体现为前额控制网络的联结从背侧注意网络切换到默认网络。由此可眨眼频率与个体注意的关联,但以上研究大多出现在动物和病人少量被试单一任务中,大样本的多任务态的眨眼与行为的关联还没有得到广泛研究。

测量眨眼频率最直接有效的手段之一就是计算个体的垂直眼电(vEOG)峰值的个数。通过收集249名大学生被试的垂直眼电和脑电任务态的行为成绩,采用petterson等人于07年发布的垂直眼电算法,以静息态的眨眼水平作为测量眨眼的基线以任务平均的眨眼水平作为特质性眨眼的衡量指标。我们发现,1)个体眨眼水平在任务间存在显著差异,以静息态的眨眼水平作为平均值,外部指向性任务,如工作记忆任务,眨眼水平较低,而需要更多内在指向的任务,如语义记忆的编码和提取阶段,眨眼水平较高,可能反应了眨眼作为一种内外在注意状态切换的指标;2)个体眨眼的特质和状态水平与特定任务中个体行为成绩的正确率、反应时相关,可能反应出眨眼频率作为不同任务中个体的特质和状态指标。

外文摘要:

Eye Blink Rate as a physiological activity visible to the outside world has received more and more attention to its relationship with internal psychological activity and neural mechanism. As an easy-to-detect and non-invasive measurementthe significance of spontaneous eye blink rate frequency in dopamine-related cognitive activities has been verified. Moreoverthe association between dopamine and attention systems and executive function has been widely studiedespecially in patients with executive dysfunction such as attention deficit disorder. Besides, eye blink rate as an attentional index has been noticed in brain networks, blink may indicate the attention direction switching from outside world to inside cognitive events, indicated from the neural network switching from frontal control network correlation with dorsal attention network to default mode network. However, these findings are mainly observed in patients and animals studies, large sample multitasking measurement in eye blink rate and its relationship with cognitive tasks has not been widely investigated.

One of the most widely used method to measure eye blink rate is to calculate individuals vertical electrooculographyvEOG. We measured the behavioral performance and the vEOG of 249 college students while they’re performing cognitive tasks. Eye blink rate was measured by vertical eye electroelectric algorithm based on the work published by petterson et al. in 2007. Resting state blink rate is used as individuals eye blink baseline and the mean eye blink rate is used as personal trait in eye blink. We found that 1there are significant differences between taskswith resting state eye blink level as the average external directional tasks such as reinforcement learningworking memory tasksblink level is lower than the tasks which need more intrinsic attention such as semantic memory encoding and retrieval in which eye blink level is higher. This may reflect the eye blink as an indicator of internal and external attention state switching; 2eye blink rate as an individuals state and task relevant indicator, correlates with individuals task performance, revealed in reaction time and accuracy, in certain tasks. Manifest that eye blink rate can serve to differentiate participants task performance to certain degree and serve as an indicator of certain personal traits.
