师范教育是应独立设置,还是归并入综合性大学,这是中国近代教育史上争议已久的话题。“壬戌学制”颁布后,受美国教育模式影响,北京高等师范学校通过改革学制、开设研究科、创办研究所,迈出了向综合性大学过渡的尝试。然而,升格后的国立北平师范大学却难以发挥作为独立师范院校的教育优势,在南京国民政府教育统制的声势下,一度面临停办的危机。在校师生组织护校势力、积极抗争,通过突出学校的师范教育属性,缩减大学的“综合性”功能,协助师大渡过难关。国立北平师范大学的困境,是多重因素共同作用的结果:严重的经费匮乏使教育教学与学术研究工作无法正常开展,政学两界人事纠葛与权力斗争使学校深受其害,摇摆不定的学校定位使高等师范教育改革难以取得显著成果。以史为鉴,国立北平师范大学的境遇对今日的师范教育建设不乏启示。

外文摘要:

Whether teacher education should be established independently or merged into comprehensive universities has been a long-standing controversial topic in the history of modern Chinese education. After the promulgation of the "Renxu Education System", influenced by the American education model, Beijing Normal University made an attempt to transition to a comprehensive university by reforming the education system, opening research subjects, and establishing research institutes. However, the upgraded National Beiping Normal University was unable to fully leverage its educational advantages as an independent normal university, and faced a crisis of closure under the influence of education control by the Nationalist government in Nanjing. On campus teachers and students organize forces to protect the school and actively resist, by highlighting the normal education attributes of the school, reducing the "comprehensive" function of the university, and assisting the Normal University in overcoming difficulties. The dilemma of National Beiping Normal University is the result of multiple factors working together. In summary, the severe shortage of funds hinders the normal development of education, teaching, and academic research work. The personnel disputes and power struggles between the political and academic circles have deeply affected schools, and the wavering positioning of schools makes it difficult to achieve significant results in the reform of higher normal education. Taking history as a lesson, the situation of National Beiping Normal University provides inspiration for today's teacher education construction.
