阅读教学是语文教育中十分重要的组成部分。周作人更是在《我的杂学》、《儿童的文学》、《我学国文的经验》等著述中阐发阅读教学相关的思想理念。其中周作人的阅读教学思想体系是以杂学为阅读方向,追求阅读庞杂广博。鼓励儿童以趣味为阅读驱动力,满足儿童的阅读趣味;并要求教师在教学中注重阅读教学方式选择的趣味性。周作人倡导创造儿童的书,为儿童提供适宜的儿童读物,并投身读本的翻译与编辑。而在阅读教学原则上提出了以儿童为本位,教师指导教学辅之的原则;注重阅读本体性,促进儿童阅读兴趣和习惯的培养。

周作人的阅读教学思想批判与反对传统的国文经学教育,并受到西方的文学教育的影响,结合了自身的阅读学习的经验,而逐步形成的具有现代性、创新性、实用性的阅读教学思想。传统的经学教育不顾儿童的兴趣,不注重儿童的想象力的培养与发展,将阅读变成功利性行为。而周作人所提倡的阅读教学将童话、小说、儿童剧等具有趣味性以及内含真挚朴实情感的文学作品引入,让儿童在阅读过程中感受作品本身传达出的情感与向善的力量,从文学作品中获取所需的社会经验。另一方面,自身的童年时期的博物经验,让周作人所提倡的阅读不只是文学学习。周作人十分鼓励儿童阅读具有趣味性的科普文,鼓励学生带着科普文中的自然知识来接触自然世界,从中丰富儿童的认知。

在方式方法上,周作人认为阅读教学过程中需要以儿童为中心,尊重儿童的阅读主体地位;在教师的引导下,构建儿童的阅读知识面,鼓励个性化的阅读;追求阅读教学目的在于更广泛的阅读,主张阅读教学中“无意思之意思”。

周作人的阅读教学思想是基于时代的需求和自身的阅读经验产生的现代阅读教学思想结晶,于如今的当代语文阅读教学仍是有大量可以借鉴之处,其中一些不合时宜之处也需要去除。一方面,周作人对儿童自由阅读的提倡,以及在选择阅读作品时文学艺术和科学知识两个方面之间的互不偏废,都对当代阅读教学具有启示作用。另一方面,因文本难度和阅读主体的厌恶而被放弃的传统经典文本的阅读,对当下的语文教学是不合时宜的。

Reading teaching is a very important part of Chinese education, and Zhou Zuoren has expounded the ideas related to reading teaching in his works, such as My Messelary Studies, Children's Literature, and My Experience in Learning Chinese. Among them, Zhou Zuoren's reading teaching ideology takes miscellaneous learning as the reading direction and pursues extensive reading. Encourage children to take fun as the driving force of reading to satisfy their reading interest; And teachers are required to pay attention to the interesting choice of reading teaching methods in teaching. Zhou Zuoren initiated the creation of children's books, provided children's books suitable for children, and devoted himself to the translation and editing of the books. In the principle of reading teaching, the author puts forward the principle of taking children as the base and teachers as the guide for teaching. Pay attention to the ontological nature of reading, and promote the cultivation of children's reading interest and habits.

Zhou Zuoren's reading teaching thought criticized and opposed the traditional Chinese classics education, and was influenced by the western literature education, combined with his own reading learning experience, and gradually formed a modern, innovative and practical reading teaching thought. The traditional classical education ignores children's interest and pays no attention to the cultivation and development of children's imagination, and turns reading into a utilitarian behavior. The teaching of reading advocated by Zhou Zuoren introduces literary works that are interesting and contain sincere and simple emotions, such as fairy tales, novels and children's plays, so that children can feel the emotion and the power of good conveyed by the works themselves in the process of reading, and get the social experience they need from the literary works. On the other hand, his own natural history experience in his childhood made the reading advocated by Zhou Zuoren more than just literature learning. In terms of methods and methods, Zhou Zuoren believes that reading teaching should be child-centered and children's reading status should be respected. Under the guidance of teachers, construct children's reading knowledge and encourage personalized reading; The aim of reading teaching is to read more widely, and "no meaning" is advocated in reading teaching.

Zhou Zuoren's reading teaching thought is the crystallization of modern reading teaching thought based on the needs of The Times and his own reading experience. There are still a lot of lessons to be learned in contemporary Chinese reading teaching today, and some of the inappropriate places also need to be removed. On the one hand, the promotion of children's free reading, as well as the mutual neglect of literature, art and scientific knowledge in the selection of reading works, have an enlightening effect on contemporary reading teaching. On the other hand, the reading of traditional classical texts, which is abandoned because of the difficulty of texts and the disgust of reading subjects, is inappropriate for the current Chinese teaching.
