移动通信技术与图书馆的发展融合产生了移动信息服务。短信息服务具有收费低廉、简单易用、便捷等优点，提供可靠的无线数据业务。用户无需纸和笔记录，内容可以存储，并且可以随时查阅信息，是现阶段最重要、最方便的无线数据接入手段，备受广大手机用户的欢迎。因此，作为移动信息服务的一种形式，面向图书馆的短信息服务具有巨大发展潜力，成为几年来图书馆界研究和应用的热点之一。本论文介绍了图书馆短信息服务的研究与实践现状，介绍了短信息概念及相关原理。论文对已有的国内外图书馆短信息服务进行案例研究，以及通过问卷调查对图书馆用户的短信息服务需求进行调查，从整体角度对图书馆短信息服务系统进行了功能设计。图书馆短信息服务平台是由两个接口、一个中心组成，即通信接口、图书馆管理系统接口、业务中心。业务中心主要完成整个系统的管理及各种数据的处理，主要实现收信处理、发信处理、服务识别、短信息数据库管理、系统管理和信息统计等功能。将短信息服务应用到图书馆的信息服务中，用户可以在任何地方、任何时间用手机发送短信给图书馆的短信服务平台，短信服务平台在接收到短信后会自动进行查询，自动搜索图书馆的数据库，并将结果以短信形式反馈给读者。短信服务平台是连接图书馆与读者的纽带。它可以帮助读者避免超期罚款，提醒读者借阅预约已到的书刊，回答读者提出的问题。随着短信业务的发展，今后面临的问题是系统如何从基于文本的短信息服务升级到基于多媒体短信息的信息服务，以提供更加丰富的短信息服务内容。

The development and combination of mobile communication technology and Library Information System give birth to mobile information service. Short message is widely accepted by mobile users for its lower cost，easier operation and speedy message. And content of SMS can be stored and consulted at any time without record in the paper by users. To sum up，Short Message Service based on Library Information System has enormous development potential and becomes one of the focal fields to be researched and developed.In this paper，the author introduces the current situation of SMS base on LIS and the relative technology principle of SMS。Based on the case studies of SMS information service offered by libraries at home and abroad and the questionnaire survey of users about SMS，the author puts forward a function design of SMS system offering information service in library.LIS-SMS is made up of gateway subsystem，communication interface to library information management system and settle business subsystem. The major function of settle business subsystem is to manage the whole system and to process information from or to the users，such as to process short messages received and sent，to judge the type of service，to manage database and system and information statistics.Users can send short messages to library anywhere and anytime by introducing the short message service into library information service. After receiving and analyzing the short messages from users，LIS-SMS can query and search the database of the library information management system automatically，and reply the users by sending messages. LIS-SMS system will be the vital nexus between users and library. Users can receive loan notice，reservation alert and reply from LIS-SMS system. Along with the development of short message service，we may need to develop Multimedia Message System based on Library Information System in order to provide more convenient and useful information services to users.
