英语教材是英语学习的重要资源，但历年来在非母语英语教学研究领域中受到较少研究者的关注。本对比研究聚焦中外英语教材中的语法模块，选取了中美两本具有一定代表性和可比性的英语教材，即外语教学与研究出版社2019年“新标准英语”丛书第2册和国家地理学习出版社“生活”丛书第3级，旨在了解它们语法模块的设计特点并对比异同。本研究采用了定性与定量结合的内容研究法以及比较分析法，得出的主要结论包括：1）“生活3”的语法学习过程更加科学和完整，语法模块和其他模块的联系也更为紧密；2）在语法知识的呈现上，“新标准2”仅使用归纳法介绍语法的使用规则，“生活3”则运用归纳或演绎法呈现了语法形式和使用两方面的规则；3）两本教材的语法活动都体现了语法-翻译教学法和交际语言教学法，且二者都更注重有关形式而非使用的练习。本研究结果启发教材编写者重新思考教材的语法学习流程设计，也鼓励他们在语法点的呈现和操练方式上增加多样性和灵活性。

Textbooks have been considered an important resource for EFL learning but remain a relatively less investigated field in EFL research. This study narrows its focus on the grammar section in two representatives of ELT textbooks produced at home and abroad—Book 2 from Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press’s 2019 New Standard English series and Level 3 from National Geographic Learning’s Life series—and aims to find out the pedagogical characteristics of the grammar section in each textbook, as well as the similarities and differences. Employing both qualitative and quantitative content analysis as well as comparative analysis, the research has yielded three major findings: 1) Life 3 has a more scientific and complete grammar learning process with closer connections between different sections; 2) NSE 2 only employs the inductive introduction to the rules of use whereas Life 3 has the deductive or inductive presentation of both form and use; 3) Grammar-Translation and Communicative Language Teaching are represented in the two textbooks’ grammar activities, which center on the practice of form instead of use. The study suggests that textbook writers rethink the organization of grammar learning and add diversity and flexibility to its presentation and practice of grammar points.
