刘易斯·卡罗尔所著的《爱丽丝梦游仙境》被称为荒诞文学领域的经典代表 作之一,其语言荒诞巧妙,逻辑不同寻常。这一作品在哲学、文学、语言学领域 都已被广泛研究,但鲜有研究用及物性系统解读其语言的不合逻辑之处。 本文将运用韩礼德的及物性理论分析《爱丽丝梦游仙境》,旨在展现书中奇幻 世界的荒诞与不合逻辑之处。笔者将书中的所有小句按照参与者、过程及环境成 分等方面分类并分析,着重解读每种过程类别下荒诞的具体类别及呈现方式,比 如拟人论、夸张、不符合逻辑及不现实等等。这一研究进一步印证了用及物性理 论解读荒诞文学的可行性,也为读者提供了解读该作品的语言学视角。

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, which is written by Lewis Carroll, is considered to be among the best examples of the literary nonsense genre, rich in witty nonsense and logical absurdity. The novel has been widely studied in terms of philosophy, literature, and linguistics, but few studies applied the transitivity approach to revealing illogical features in the language of this book. This thesis aims to analyze Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland from the perspective of Halliday’s transitivity system, with the aim of revealing the absurdity and nonsense of the magical world depicted in the novel. The clauses in the novel are classified, analyzed and evaluated in terms of process types, participants and circumstantial elements. The way nonsense is achieved under each process type is further classified and explained, showing how anthropomorphism, exaggeration and illogical or unrealistic elements are realized. This study further confirms the feasibility of revealing nonsense with the transitivity framework, and provides a linguistic view of understanding the novel.
