西方现代奇幻文学的概念肇始托尔金，他提出的“第二世界”理论阐释了奇幻世界建构的意义。《冰与火之歌》的问世是对西方现代奇幻文学的进一步发展，深化了奇幻世界建构的意义。它使得第一世界与第二世界相互独立而又相互交融，呈现出与此前现代传统奇幻文学不一样的奇幻色彩。按照托尔金的思路继续发展，可将此看做是“第三世界”。《冰与火之歌》即为西方现代奇幻文学中“第三世界”崛起的代表，通过文本细读法，分析其在奇幻文学流派中，奇幻与现实相交融的特征与意义；并从文化人类学角度进行全局关照，对“第三世界”意义的研究拓展至人文思索与现实关怀。

The definition of modern western fantasy literature was first came up by Tolkien, who put forward “The secondary” theory explained the meaning of the fantasy world. A Song of Ice and Fire has stimulated the development of modern western fantasy literature and gone further in the meaning of the fantasy world. It makes the first world and the secondary world separate and infuse with each other, presenting the different color from modern western fantasy literature before. According to Tolkien’s theory, it can be called “the third world”. A Song of Ice and Fire is the representation of “the third world” in modern western fantasy literature. Through examples in the book, we analyze the significance of infused fantasy and reality; through the aspect of Cultural anthropology, we research its meaning further to the humanity and reality.
