在先秦两汉,以《诗》赋为主要体现的文学写物经历了由事到物、由物到景的变化。早期诗歌写物是由其行为功能决定,受到礼仪性质的影响和礼仪叙事的需求而以描绘事物态貌、罗列事物名称为主,即形成“赋”的写物方式。礼仪叙事决定了诗的写物特点,影响并支持了早期四言诗的韵律、句法、篇章结构方式的形成,是诗歌创作中极为重要的环节。
随着礼仪变化,诗歌写物方式改变,从“礼仪叙事”中的“礼物”转向“主题化”“抒情化”的“物象”。在出现整齐的形式(四言体)和较为统一的写作方式(赋)之后,诗歌开始逐渐脱离礼仪而有其自觉性。诗人的个体意识进入诗歌,公共性的套语模式开始具有个人风格并能微妙地反映个人意图。这是诗歌写物与个人意志结合的开始。
《诗经》写物多是单一物象。在《诗经》之后,写物开始转向整体风景。考察这一时期的文学写物,主要以《楚辞》、汉赋而非诗歌为对象。因为诗、文结合的赋,在文体和写物方面的蓬勃发展对后世诗、文产生了重要影响,与诗的后续发展高度重合。
从物到景的转变主要分为三个方面:空间认知出现、引譬连类、个人情感与景物的融合。空间认知出现和对空间的描绘,使辞赋的文章结构从“事件”转向“空间”,并最终促成以空间原则为基础的语言形式——“对仗”的出现。引譬连类是人、物关系从“事义”转向“类应”的表现,其内在理据是儒家“博物”“比德”思想。而儒家对“物”的全新思考与使用,不仅肯定了写物价值,还推动了文学机制的新旧转换。对情、物结合的考察则主要以“游观”为线索,在“游观”中,作者的个体感受与身体经验进入文本,并随着士人身份和文学地位的变化渐成文章主体。同时,文学写物和文章写作越来越个体化、真实化、知识化。而后,这些变化进入五言诗,在《古诗十九首》中显示出古典诗歌“情景交融”的新方向。

In the pre-Qin and Han dynasties, depiction of things in classical literature which is mainly embodied by “Shi” and Fu, has experienced a change from “事(event)” to “物(object image)” and from “物(object image)” to “景(landscape)”. The depiction of things in early poetry is determined by its behavioral function. Influenced by the nature of etiquette and the demand of etiquette narration, early poetry mainly describes the appearance of things and lists the names of things in etiquette, that is “赋(enumeration)” which is the main way of depicting in early four-character genres. Etiquette narration determines the depiction of poems, influences and supports the formation of early four-character genres, such as rhythm, syntax and text structure. 
With the change of etiquette, the way of depiction changed, from the things in etiquette to the thematic and lyrical “object image”. After the appearance of four-character genres and relatively unified writing mode (Fu), poetry began to gradually depart from etiquette and the poets began to express themselves. So public formula begin to take on personal style and subtly reflect personal intentions. This is the beginning of the combination of object images and personal emotions.
The Book of Songs is mostly composed of single object image. After the Book of Songs, the depiction of things in literature has turned to the whole landscape. The depiction in literary of this period are mainly based on Chu Ci and Han Fu rather than poetry. Because the combination of poetry and prose, the vigorous development of Fu in style and writing has had an important impact on later poetry and prose, which is highly coincident with the development of poetry.
This change from object image to landscape can be roughly divided into three aspects: the appearance of space cognition, “making association by kind”, the combination of emotions and landscape. The appearance of space cognition and the description of space make the structure of Fu from “event” to “space”, and promote the language form – “antithesis”. “Making association by kind” is a manifestation of the change of the relationship between people and things from “event” to “interaction”, and its intrinsic motivation is the Confucian thoughts of “have a broad knowledge of things” and "cohesive moral". Confucianism’s new thinking and use of “objects” not only affirmed the value of depiction, but also promoted the transformation of literary mechanism from old to new.The combination of emotions and landscape takes “游观(kinetic vision)” as the main line, in which the author’s individual feelings and physical experience enter into the text, and the depiction of literary are becoming more and more individual, real and knowledgeable. Later, these changes entered the five-character poetry. In Nineteen Ancient Poems, “情景(Qing Jing)” began to appear in classical poetry.
