The myth of Chang' e provides the possibility of writing desire and subjectivity for the creation of modern and contemporary literature by thinking about gender relations, and the open text provides an opportunity to enrich the details of the myth restatement. This paper mainly starts with the relationship between desire and subjectivity, examining the characteristics and expression of desire and subjectivity in modern and contemporary Chang' e myth retelling novels in China, and sorting out the connection between desire and subjectivity in modern and contemporary Chang' e myth retelling novels. The restatement of Chang' e myth in modern literature is generally under the main body of enlightenment and salvation and relates the myth with the writer's mental state, the survival of modern women, and the future and destiny of the country, which has the characteristics of instrumental rationality. However, in contemporary literature, under the impact of post-modernism theory and commodity economy, Chang' e and Hou Yi alienated their bodies into subjects under the power frame of material desire, power desire, and lust, and faced the identity crisis. In a word, the restatement of modern literature has the characteristics of enlightenment reflexivity, while contemporary literature attempts to reconstruct the human subject through the desire for privatization, but it is faced with the risk of the dispersion of the subject.
