笛子历史悠久，自古以来就是人们表达情意和抒发情感的一种重要传统民族民间乐器，具有强烈的民族特征，是发轫于民间的音乐艺术。笛，也许是孤独时最合适的同伴。它是高贵的，但却并不奢靡，它是清雅的，但却并不孤僻。 我国早期的竹笛艺术流派——“南派”、“北派”，于新中国成立后逐渐形成，地方音乐成为了南北两派笛子作品风格的素材和来源，因此在传统意义上产生了“南派”、“北派”两种笛子音乐风格。南北派笛子音乐的演奏风格，分别汲取了“曲笛”、“梆笛”的演奏特点。北派梆笛源自于中原文化的摇篮，它的构造比曲笛短小，讲究刚健豪放，音色高亢明亮，音质刚劲有力，风格粗犷，干净利落；南派曲笛植跟于江南文化的土壤，孕育于江南丝竹，气息起伏较大，声音富有抑扬顿挫的变化，表现的风格抒情细腻，委婉动听，空灵秀气，渗透了江南秀丽美景的精魂，音色明亮飘逸，音质柔美婉约，醇厚圆润，含蓄内在。显然，不同的地域文化造就了不同的笛子音乐演奏风格和特点的不同。 本文首先介绍了笛的发展历史与发展现状、种类形制，其次就南北派笛子作品分别进行了南北派笛子作品风格形成背景的相关阐述，然后把代表南北派笛子作品的特点对比与演奏技巧的对比作为重点研究方向，就南北派笛子作品演奏风格的差异、传承与对演奏者的指导意义，结合自身的实践经验进行了深入的研究与思考。
