英语教材是以英语作为外语的学生培养英语技能的首要学习材料。在中国,人民教育出版社的普通高中英语教材被多个省份广泛使用。为促进英语教学,大量的研究对其编写进行评估。然而,对于这套教材中出现在文本里的粗体词,编者仅仅将其认为是单词表里的大纲词汇并且一些学者认为其设置是为了吸引学生对阅读文章的注意。几乎没有研究分析过文本中粗体词的功能。本文通过分析阅读文本中的粗体词的词汇衔接模式和分析其在文章创作中的表达效果旨在揭示粗体词在文本中的功能。因为文章中的粗体词和其他词有不同的形式将会影响文章阅读行为,本文将调查学生和老师关于粗体词如何影响文本阅读的观点。基于文章中粗体词汇的词汇衔接模式促进文章语义连贯的功能和学生与老师未能意识到粗体词汇在文章中的功能的调查结果,本文将对粗体词及其所在文本提出教学策略并且对合理构建文中的词汇提出建议。
外文摘要:
English language textbook is the priority learning materials for EFL students to develop their English proficiencies. NSEFC textbooks are widely adopted by numerous provinces in China and many studies focus on evaluating the compilation to promote teaching and learning English. However, regarding the boldface words in the texts of these textbooks, the editors take them as syllabus words in the wordlist and a couple of scholars consider the setup of them is to attract students’ attention on reading texts. Few considers the functions of boldface word in the texts. This study aims to analyze the functions of boldface words in texts by categorizing their patterns of lexical cohesion and explain the expressive effects on texts creation. Since boldface words in texts have different forms of other words, which will influence the reading actions. There will be a survey conducted to teachers and students about their viewpoints on how boldface words affect them reading texts. Based on the findings that the lexical cohesion model of boldface words lay more stress on the semantic coherence of texts and the results that teachers and students are unaware of functions of boldface words in reading, the implication of this study will provide some strategies for teaching and learning boldface words and their texts and suggestions for reasonably constructing vocabularies in the texts.
