外来词作为全球化和语言接触的产物,反映了不同国家之间的社会和文化交流。本研究从语言态度的三个构成要素的角度,即认知态度、情感态度和行为倾向,探讨了大学生对英语外来词的态度,以及不同专业背景的学生是否持有不同的语言态度。通过问卷调查法和访谈法,本研究发现大学生对外来词抱有较积极的态度。同时,从态度的三个构成要素的角度看,学生在认知态度方面展现出的态度最积极,在行为倾向方面较中立,在情感态度方面较消极。通过比较不同专业的数据,人文学科组的接受度最高,而理工学科组的接受度最低。结果表明,不同专业背景的学生对外来词会有不同的态度。这一研究结果可以揭示大学生对外来词的态度和看法,有助于语言教育工作者更好地设计针对不同专业学生的大学英语教学,也有助于语言政策制定者更好地了解英语外来词对特定人群的影响。

外文摘要:

As an outcome of globalization and language contact, the loanword reflects social and cultural exchanges among different countries. This study explores college students’ attitudes toward English loanwords from the view of three components of attitude, namely cognitive attitudes, affective attitudes and behavioral tendencies, and whether the academic major background is a factor that influences attitudes. Through questionnaires and interviews, this study finds that college students possess a positive attitude. Moreover, from the perspective of the three components of attitude, students show the most positive attitude in cognitive view, neutral attitude in behavioral tendency and relatively negative view in emotional view. By comparing data from different majors, the Humanities group has the highest level of acceptance, while the Science and Engineering group has the lowest. The result shows that students in different major backgrounds can have different attitudes toward loanwords. The findings of this research may shed light on college students’ attitudes and opinions toward loanwords, and serve as inspiration for language educators to better design college English teaching for students in different majors and for language policies makers to better understand the impact of English loanwords on a certain group of people.
