1920年代初,一批新文化人先后汇集在浙江上虞白马湖畔的春晖中学。这个群体以经亨颐、夏丏尊、丰子恺、朱自清、朱光潜、刘薰宇、刘叔琴、匡互生等人为代表,后世将其称为“白马湖作家群”。从整体上看,这群文人的实践活动经历了春晖时期、立达时期、开明时期三个阶段,并渐渐发掘出一条将文学、教育、出版领域相融合的职业道路。本文以1920年代初春晖中学时期的“白马湖作家群”为主要研究对象,将其在这一时段的两大关键活动纳入研究范围,致力于探讨“白马湖作家群”在新教育与新文学建设上的贡献。同时从“白马湖作家群”的新教育实践和新文学创作出发,把握这一群体在精神理念与文化心态上的共通性与相似性。

第一部分尝试从“白马湖作家群”“人”的理念出发,审视其教育理念与文学精神的一致性。作为一群新文化人,“白马湖作家群”在春晖中学的文化活动本质上延续了新文化运动的思想内核,其教育理念的实质与文学写作的内涵并不是割裂的、互不统属的。考察他们提出的人格教育、平民教育和美的教育的理念,不难看出它们与“白马湖作家群”在文学创作中频频提及的“人”的理念的密切关联。可以说,“白马湖作家群”的教育理念是其文学精神的续接与实践的形式,且整体上契合于新文化运动以来的启蒙主题。

第二部分主要考察“白马湖作家群”的中等教育实践给新文学带来的影响。首先,春晖中学营造的教育空间拓展了“白马湖作家群”新文学的写作;其次,从事中等教育的经历影响了群体内部一部分人的新文学创作,促成他们创作的转折;最后,“白马湖作家群”在教学过程中出现的教学需求、创设的课程模式客观上促进了新文学的理论建设。

第三部分聚焦于“白马湖作家群”的“国语”教学课堂,探析文学史视野下新教育与新文学实践之间的内在关联。“白马湖作家群”对国语的重视、教科书的选取和新文学阅读、写作的讲授,不仅从语言技巧层面上解析了新文学,更从精神层面深化了对新文学的认知,对传播和巩固新文学具有重要的意义。而春晖中学的学生主体对新文学的接受和创作,意味着新文学在中等教育中获得了积极地回应,这进一步加强了新文学在中等教育中的合法性地位。

第四部分试图从文化心态的角度,剖析和总结“白马湖作家群”在新教育与新文学实践过程中存在的复杂心态。由于这一群体普遍具有的务实感,他们在教育事业中寄予着自己无比的理想热情。然而,热情的背后也掩藏着现实的无奈。这一群新文化人大多出身平民阶层,面对现实的压力,他们不得不选择成为中学教员。更重要的是,这种教师与新文化人交织的身份,使得他们在新文学与新教育的实践中常常存在着心态上的牵扯,造成他们在文章教学观上的复杂态度。

In the early 1920s, a group of new cultural people have gathered in Zhejiang Province Shangyu City Baima Lake Chunhui Middle School. The representatives of this group were Jing Hengyi, Xia Mianzun, Feng Zikai, Zhu Ziqing, Zhu Guangqian, Liu Xunyu, Liu Shuqin and Kuang Husheng, etc, which were later known as the "Baima Lake Writers Group". On the whole, the practice of this group went through three stages: Chunhui period, Lida period and Kaiming period, and they were gradually explored a road combining literature, education and publishing. This paper takes the "Baima Lake Writers Group" of Chunhui Middle School which gathered in the early 1920s as the main object of study, and mainly takes two key activities of the writers into the scope of research in this period, then devoted to discussing the contribution of the "Baima Lake Writers" to the construction of education and literature. At the same time, basing on the educational practice and literary creation of "Baima Lake Writers Group", this paper tries to grasp the commonality and similarity of this group in their spiritual core and cultural mentality.

The first part attempts to examine the consistency between their educational idea and literary spirit from the viewpoint of "human" of the " Baima Lake Writers Group". As a group of new cultural people, the cultural activities of "Baima Lake writers Group" in Chunhui middle school essentially continue the ideological core of the new cultural movement, and the essence of their educational idea and the connotation of literary writing are not separate. It is not difficult to find that their ideas of personality education, commoner education and beauty education are closely related to the idea of "human" frequently mentioned by "Baima Lake Writers Group" in their literary creations. It can be said that the educational idea of "Baima Lake Writers Group" is the continuation and practice form of its literary spirit, and on the whole corresponds to the enlightenment theme since the New Culture Movement.

The second part mainly investigates the influence of secondary education by "Baima Lake Writers Group" on literature. First of all, the educational space created by Chunhui Middle School has expanded the literature writing of "Baima Lake Writers Group". Secondly, the experience of engaging in secondary education has influenced the literary creation of some people within the group and contributed to the turning point of their creation. Finally, the teaching needs and the curriculum model created by "Baima Lake Writers Group" objectively promote the theoretical construction of literature.

The third part focuses on the "Mandarin" teaching class of "Baima Lake Writers Group", and explores the internal relationship between education and literary practice from the perspective of literary history. The emphasis on the national language, the selection of textbooks, the teaching of new literature reading and writing, of "Baima Lake Writers group" not only analyzed the new literature from the level of language skills, but also deepened the cognition of new literature from the spiritual level, which is of great significance to the dissemination and consolidation of new literature. The acceptance and creation of the literature by the students in Chunhui Middle School means that the literature has received a positive response in the secondary school, which strengthens the legitimacy of literature in the secondary education.

The fourth part attempts to analyze and summarize the complex cultural mentality of "Baima Lake Writers Group" in the practice of education and literature from the perspective of cultural mentality. Since this group generally has a pragmatic mentality, they placed their own incomparable ideal enthusiasm in the cause of education. However, in the behind of the enthusiasm also hides the reality of helplessness. This group are mostly born in the common class, facing the pressure of reality, they had to become middle school teachers. More importantly, their identity of teachers interwoven with the identity of cultural people often leads to their complex mindset, resulting in their changeable attitude towards the teaching view of articles.
