20世纪20年代，随着两岸交流的加强、台湾岛内抗日救台运动的发展，越来越多的台湾学生前往祖国大陆求学。这些台湾学生既受到台湾岛内的思想洗礼，又深受大陆革命浪潮的影响，其原有的“救台”思想因此发生了深刻的变化。一方面，他们对日本殖民者的认识愈加深刻、反抗日趋激烈；另一方面，他们也吸取了大陆共产主义运动发展的重要思想内涵以及其他“救台”的新思路。当这些台湾学生返回台湾岛内，其“救台”思想的变化推动着岛内民众思想启蒙、抗日救台运动进一步发展，对于台湾本岛的抗日救台运动产生了积极的影响。

  Along with the strengthening of the cross-straits exchanges and the development of resistance against Japanese colonists, more Taiwanese students had travelled to Chinese mainland to study since the 1920s. Affected by the Taiwan society, these students were also deeply influenced by the revolution in Chinese mainland. Consequently, their thoughts of “Saving Taiwan” had changed. On the one hand, they had a deeper understanding of Japanese colonialism which led to fiercer resistance on their part; on the other hand, they also learned more from the communist movement and other discourses which provided a new way to save Taiwan. These shifted thoughts, brought back by the returning Taiwanese students, helped to promote ideological enlightenment of people in Taiwan. Moreover, their hard work also had a positive impact on the anti-Japan movement in Taiwan.
