Currently, discourse of animality is catching more and more attention and animal study appears increasingly necessary within literary studies. The focus of this research is to illustrate the embodiment of animality in Jack London’s famous animal-centered fiction The Call of the Wild and White Fang. Based on a careful and in-depth analysis of the characters and plots of the novel, the central argument of this paper focuses on the demonstration of animality in the novel, especially animality features which are sexuality and violence. The findings from this research provide evidence that Jack London is definitely not a nature-faker, but a true naturalistic writer. I hope this dissertation can lead to an awareness of the need to study Jack London and his works from the perspective of animality.
