丁玲的小说擅长塑造鲜明生动的人物形象，而之前学界并未对1930年代丁玲笔下的大众形象给予特别关注。丁玲在这一时期“左转”，她笔下的主要描写对象也相应地从小资产阶级知识分子转变为下层劳动者（“大众”）。本文以丁玲1930年5月至1936年9月间发表的26篇作品为研究对象，分析其中呈现出的大众形象序列，探究其经验与教训。得益于现实主义、唯物主义的创作方法与亲身观察带来的鲜活感受，丁玲塑造的大众形象真实客观，且有一定的复杂度，同时展现了大众的丑陋、愚昧与觉醒等多个方面。但由于丁玲此时对大众的了解还更多停留在表面，其塑造的大众只有整体性而不见个性，未能深入刻画出大众的灵魂。丁玲的成功与局限，可以帮助我们更好地理解1930年代革命者在复杂困境中的心路历程，丰富对左翼文学的认识。

Ding Ling's novels are good at creating vivid characters, but no special attention has been paid to the image of the masses in Ding Ling's novels of the 1930s before. As Ding Ling political leanings changed, the main target of her writing changed from petty-bourgeois intellectuals to lower-class laborers ("the masses"). This article takes the 26 works published by Ding Ling between May 1930 and September 1936 as the object of study, analyzes the sequence of images of the masses presented in them, and explores their experiences and lessons. Thanks to her realistic and materialistic method and the vivid feelings brought by personal observation, Ding Ling's image of the masses is authentic, objective as well as complex and shows the ugliness, ignorance as well as awakening of the masses. However, as Ding Ling's understanding of the masses at this time remained more on the surface, her portrayal of the masses was only holistic but not individualistic, and she failed to portray the souls of the masses in depth. Ding Ling's successes and limitations can help us better understand the journey of the revolutionaries in the 1930s in the midst of complex difficulties and enrich our understanding of left-wing literature.
