课程资源的开发是新一轮基础教育课程改革的一个新的课题，是推行与实施新课程标准的一个重要环节。体育课程资源的开发是基础教育课程改革的重要组成部分，是提高学校体育教育质量的一个关键环节。随着学校体育改革的不断深入，素质教育、健康第一、终身体育的思想正成为新一轮基础课程改革的终极目标。体育课程资源开发将直接影响体育课程内容的丰富性和多样性，而民族传统体育课程资源的开发则是一个崭新的课程开发领域，对弥补学校体育经费短缺、场地不足、满足学生的民族文化心理要求、加强学生素质教育、提高学生身心健康水平、树立良好的体育意识和观念、养成终身锻炼的习惯等方面都具有现实意义和推广价值。本文采用文献法、访谈法、逻辑分析法，分析当前常见民族传统体育课程资源开发这一问题，梳理民族传统体育的概念、分类，民族传统体育课程资源的概念，民族传统体育的价值，对民族传统体育课程资源开发的必要性和可行性进行分析，总结民族传统体育课程资源可开发的内容，开发中应遵循的原则。目前，由于课程资源开发还处于刚起步阶段，大都集中在少数民族地区，但由于体育教师传统的体育教学思想观念没有改变，各级部门对民族传统体育课程资源的开发的支持、指导、要求、督促和推广的的力度不够，管理体系的不健全，当前的师资队伍的力量薄弱、教师的开发能力、授课能力等不能满足民族传统体育课程资源开发的需要，民族传统体育本身课程目标的不明确，不能正确处理传统体育和新兴体育、外来的和乡土之间的关系。因此，我们在继承我国民族传统体育文化的基础上，借鉴国外民族传统体育发展的优势，充分开发内容、丰富、形式多变的民族传统体育课程资源，遵循民族传统体育课程资源开发的原则，因地制宜、因陋就简的引入到体育教学中，加强民族传统体育师资力量，各级部门要加强对课程资源开发的管理力度，推动民族传统体育课程资源开发的有效、可行，从而推动民族传统体育的发展。通过本研究，一方面可丰富现代体育课程资源的领域，另一方面为开发民族传统体育课程资源提供一定的借鉴。
