莎士比亚十四行诗中的悖论使诗人-叙述者的言语中充斥着矛盾。批评家试图找到可以阐释悖论的完美解法。本篇论文通过分析、归类十四行诗的悖论后，认为悖论在人类生活和心理活动中普遍存在，不存在解决方法，也排斥解法。于莎翁而言，悖论除了作为矛盾修辞外，还作为双重视角来记录十七世纪英国个人与社会间的冲突，包容了人的矛盾性。
十四行诗主人自身既自卑又自负，他脆弱的自尊与负面的社会评价存在巨大的矛盾，让读者感到困惑而不安。叙述者的矛盾行为——他自相矛盾的劝辞和赞词——揭示了天马行空的艺术自我与画地为牢的现世理念间的冲突。疫病般的爱情与谎言似的真理作为十四行诗中的两大悖论思想更进一步阐述了莎士比亚对所谓真理的重新设定。叙述者形象、行为与语言的三重悖论是脆弱、彷徨、挣扎的人性的证明。莎士比亚的文学世界因此得以从二元对立和绝对真理的诗歌传统中解脱出来，展现更具自由色彩的悖论思想。

外文摘要：
The paradox in Shakespeare’s sonnets generates a conflicting narrative from the perspective of the poet-speaker. As critics try to solve it by giving reconcilable explanations, this thesis analyzes and categorizes paradoxes to prove that they are unreconcilable paradoxes pervading human life and psychology that resist any absolute solutions. Paradox is more than a rhetoric device of contradictions but taken as double perspectives by Shakespeare to record clashes between individual selfhood and the society in early seventeenth century England to embrace the paradoxical nature of man.
The paradoxical image of a self-conceited and self-abased poet-speaker “I” places readers into unsettlement and uncertainty about the vulnerability of innate confidence versus the evaluation system of the society. The speaker’s paradoxical behaviors of dissuading persuasion and ironical praise also demonstrate the contradictions between one’s free artistic imagination and the restricted secular beliefs. Paradoxical ideas of plaguy love and lying truth further illuminate Shakespeare’s poetic reconfiguration of what is commonly thought to be truth. The imaginal, behavioral and thematic paradoxes of the poet-speaker prove that humanity is full of vulnerability, unsettlement and struggle. Shakespearean world is therefore liberated from the poetic tradition of binary oppositions and absolute truths and dedicated to the liberating paradox.
