正中书局曾是国民党第一大出版机构,1931年由陈立夫创办,1933年起改隶国民党中央党部。国民党对正中书局十分重视,给予其诸多优待,意图借此弥补宣传工作的不足,并加强对出版界的掌控。改隶国民党中央后,正中书局高层由国民党中央党部指派,经费由国民党中央党部拨给,出版发行亦享有各种特权。在国民党当局的大力扶植下,正中书局迅速发展为国民党第一大出版机构,并与商务印书馆、中华书局等出版业巨头形成分庭抗礼之势。正中书局并非单纯的文化出版机构,而是国民党政治宣传的重要工具。它出版了大量政治宣传书籍,更灌输党义于各类教科书之中,以期使国民党的主义和意志流布全国。然而囿于政治立场,正中书局的出版物脱离时代潮流,影响力始终有限。同时在管理方面,正中书局更是沾染了国民党内部的种种弊端,充斥着裙带关系、派系斗争和贪污腐败。最终,正中书局既未阻止自身的衰颓,更未能挽救国民党失败的命运,被迫于1949年5月狼狈迁台,结束了其在大陆的经营历史。

外文摘要:

The Cheng Chung Bookstore was once the largest publishing organization of the Chinese KuomintangKMT. It was founded by Chen Lifu in 1931 and had been attached to the Central Department of the Chinese KMT since 1933. The KMT paid great attention to the Cheng Chung Bookstore and gave it many advantages, in order to make up for the lack of the publicity and strengthen the KMT’s control over the Chinese publishing industry. After attached to the KMT’s Central Department, Cheng Chung Bookstore enjoyed various privileges. Its senior management and funding were all allocated by the KMT, while its publishing and distribution also enjoyed lots of benefits. With the strong support of the KMT, the Cheng Chung Bookstore quickly developed into the KMT's largest publishing organization and even could compete with Commercial Press and Zhong Hua Book Company. The Cheng Chung Bookstore was not only a cultural publishing organization, but an important tool for the political propaganda of the KMT, which published a large number of political propaganda books, and instilled the doctrine in various textbooks, in order to spread the KMTs doctrine and will throughout the whole China. However, limited by political position, the publications of the Cheng Chung Bookstore broke away from the trend of the times, ultimately resulting in its limited influence. Moreover, the management was full of nepotism, factional struggles and corruption. Consequently, the Cheng Chung Bookstore did not prevent its own decline or save the fate of the KMT's failure. In the end, it was forced to move to Taiwan in May 1949, ending its business history in the mainland.
