本论文首先对山西民间美术中的平阳木版年画的历史渊源、创作方法介绍和认识，其次结合这些对平阳木版年画本身所具有的民俗因素、精神寄托因素、地理环境因素、文化因素、经济因素四个方面的乡土元素依据进行深入研究，主要通过文献法、访谈法等对平阳木版年画的乡土元素进行理论分析。随着研究过程的深入，结合其历史渊源、乡土内涵、艺术特征、艺术价值等多方面因素，提出了对乡土元素在平阳木版年画中存在现状的认知和思考。结合美术学科所学知识，一方面进行比较分析；另一方面对于吸收平阳木版年画中乡土元素的精髓进行思考，以此作为激发平阳木版年画的保护与收集、传承与发展的理论依据。
