Xuetang music refers to the music courses set up in the new schools and the songs taught in class. As the voice of the times, Xuetang music mostly adopts music of Japanese songs in tunes and pay attention to the publicity of new things and ideas in the content. This paper will sort out the development of Xuetang music in late qing dynasty and early republic of China in Shanghai and analyze its content and influence.
