叶德辉是清末民初著名的古文学者和版本目录学家,他的《书林清话》是我国第一部版本学专著,向为学界所重。《郋园读书志》是叶德辉为其藏书撰写的读书题跋记,在版本和内容的讨论上都用功至深,实为一部极有价值的版本目录著作。然而此书自来讨论较少,因此本文结合叶德辉的《书林清话》、《藏书十约》等著作着重对《郋园读书志》的体例进行研究,并探讨叶德辉对版本目录学的理解以及《郋园读书志》在版本目录学史上的地位。本文首先对叶德辉的生平和版本目录学方面的学术活动进行归纳总结,以了解叶德辉研究版本目录学、撰写《郋园读书志》的背景。其次叙述《郋园读书志》的成书情况和收录特点。《郋园读书志》是叶德辉平时读书的心得与体会,按四部分类排序,收录叶德辉题跋七百余篇,所志之书四部兼备,多明清精刻本,多别本、重本。再次,研究《郋园读书志》的体例特点,此为本文的重点,分别从版本和内容两方面论述。在版本讨论方面,叶德辉考查版本时善于运用书籍版本形式、题名、卷数、牌记、序跋、避讳、藏印、刻工、结衔等各种外部和内容特征,并且注重利用前人的目录成果进行鉴定;比较版本优劣时主要依据两个标准,一是保存原书本式,二是校刻无讹误;梳理书籍版刻源流时,注意从版本群体的高度考察版本问题,尽量避免孤立看待版本而造成的讹误。所有这些均体现出其卓越的版本意识和深厚的版本学积累。在内容讨论方面,叶德辉注意利用卷目和丛书子目对书籍内容进行揭示,并参考《四库全书总目》等目录著作评价内容得失;考证作者时,广泛参考正史、方志、作者传记等各种人物资料,以做到知人论世,不以一家之言定论;在梳理学术源流方面,叶德辉能够总结一朝一派的学术变迁规律,并且通过内容的讨论表达自己的学术观点。第四部分是将《郋园读书志》放在清代版本目录发展的背景中考察,通过分析清代的几部具有里程碑意义的版本目录著作,总结出清代版本目录发展的特点:版本的著录项目不断规范、细致、形象;著录对象不断扩大;对版本问题认识不断深入;从重内容到重版本再到兼顾内容与版本。叶德辉《郋园读书志》在一定程度上对上述四个特点均有体现,实为清代版本目录之集大成者,这既是缘于叶德辉本人深厚的学术造诣,也是版本目录发展之必然结果。最后,分析《郋园读书志》的成就与不足,并指出其对当前古籍编目工作的指导意义。

Ye Dehui was a famous scholar and bibliographer at the end of Qing Dynasty. His Shu Lin Qing Hua is the earliest treatise on the science of edition, and is highly valued in the area. Xi Yuan Du Shu Zhi is the collection of Ye’s reading notes and postscripts, while it has been discussed little. The paper aims at discussing the description style of Xi Yuan Du Shu Zhi, and tries to figure out Ye’s thoughts on textural bibliography, and the importance of Xi Yuan Du Shu Zhi in the history of textural bibliography. The paper includes four parts. The first part summarizes Ye’s life-story and his academic activities related to textural bibliography in order to learn about the background knowledge of the writing of Xi Yuan Du Shu Zhi. The second part talks about the writing and publishing work of Xi Yuan Du Shu Zhi, and analyzes the character of his postscripts. Xi Yuan Du Shu Zhi contains about 700 postscripts and all the postscripts are sorted by the taxonomy of the four - branch. Ye’s postscripts are mostly wrote for the fine editions from Ming and Qing Dynasty and he usually wrote different postscripts for the same books of different editions.The third part studies the description style of Xi Yuan Du Shu Zhi. This is the focus of this paper, and the writer separately discusses how Ye Dehui talked about edition and content.In the discussion of version, Ye Dehui was good at using various external and content features such as title, volume number, brand mark, preface and postscript, taboo, seal, carving, nodes and catalogs to do version identification; Ye had two standards to determine the quality of different versions: the original style and no-mistakes; Ye paid lots of attention on version system of books and tended to put different editions into groups while discussing, which avoided the mistakes made by talking editions separately. In the discussion of content, Ye Dehui paid attention to use volume names and series subtitles to reveal the contents of books, and evaluated the value of books according to all kinds of catalogs, mainly Si Ku Quan Shu; Ye took references to make an objective evaluation on the writers’ academic work; Ye was able to conclude the academic change process of a time or a school and tried to express his own idea during discussion.The fourth part tries to figure out the significance of Xi Yuan Du Shu Zhi by putting it into the history of textual bibliography. Qing dynasty is an important period for the development of texture bibliography. In this part the writer analyses some important works in Qing dynasty and sums up some features of the process: enriching the items of edition description; expanding the objects of description; deepening the understanding of the natural of science of edition; pay attention to both edition and content. Ye’s Xi Yuan Du Shu Zhi fits all of these features and is indeed a great textual bibliography in Qing dynasty. This is not only because Ye’s deep academic attainments, but also the inevitable result of the development of textual bibliography.In the end, the writer analyzes the achievements and shortcomings of Xi Yuan Du Shu Zhi, and points out its significance in the current rare book cataloging.
