明清时期,晋商作为极具代表性的商帮群体,为中国传统的经济、社会以及文化的繁荣都做出了不可磨灭的贡献。与其他商帮相比,晋商有其独特的商业和文化特色。山西榆次车辋常氏家族作为晋商群体的一分子,在经商与教育等诸多方面,都展示出了晋商文化的精髓。

常氏家族教育与商业并驾齐驱,自常氏发家伊始,家族内部就非常重视对子孙后辈的教育。在中国传统文化与商人职业特殊性的双重影响下,常氏家族的教育与传统教育既相似,又不同。他们重视伦理道德教育与传统文化教育,强调知识的重要性,但他们读书又不以科举入仕为目的,而是以传承家业为目标。所以,在常氏家族教育中,以商业知识为主的经世致用之学是非常重要的内容。

丰富多样的教育内容,使得常氏家族教育的途径呈现出灵活多变的特点。常氏家族主要通过设立家塾、书院等专门的教育机构,向子弟传授系统的文化知识。再通过制定家训的方式,对子孙后辈的伦理道德与言行举止予以严格规范和劝导。最后辅以家风的熏陶,潜移默化地促成子弟良好品质的养成。

纵观常氏家族的发展过程,教育在其家业的壮大以及后期家族的延续中,都起到了积极的推动作用。随着家族教育的不断深入,常家的教育目的由前期较为功利的“学为商用”,逐渐转变成单纯的“为提升自身”而学。而教育理念的转变,也促使常家子弟在新旧时代的交替下,较为迅速的完成了社会身份的转型,平顺地渡入新时代,延续了常氏家族的生命力。

外文摘要:
       During the Ming and Qing dynasties, as a representative group of merchants, Shanxi merchants have made indelible contributions to the prosperity of China's traditional economy, society and culture. Compared with other groups, Shanxi merchants have their own unique commercial and cultural characteristics. As a member of the Shanxi merchants, the Chang family of Yuci, Shanxi, has demonstrated the essence of Shanxi merchants in business and education, as well as in other areas.
       The Chang family's education developed together with its business. Since the Chang family became rich, the family has attached great importance to the education of the descendants. Under the dual influence of traditional Chinese culture and the particularity of the merchant profession, There were similarities and differences between the Chang family's education and Chinese traditional education. In terms of the similarities, they all attached importance to moral education and traditional education, especially emphasizing on the importance of knowledge.However, the aim of Chang family's education was not to serve the government by passing the imperial examination, but to pass on the family business. Therefore, the education of Chang's family also included the practical study of business knowledge.
       The rich and diverse educational content made the educational approaches of Chang family's education flexible and changeable. The Chang family mainly passed on more systematic cultural knowledge to their descendants through the establishment of specialized educational institutions such as family schools and academies. They strictly regulated and persuaded the younger generations' ethics and behaviors by making family instructions. Finally, Chang family's education imperceptibly promotes the cultivation of good qualites of children by the influence of family environment. 
       Throughout the development of the family, Education has played a positive role in the development of the Chang family business and the continuation of the family. With the deepening of family education, The educational purpose of the Chang family has gradually changed from the utilitarian learning for business in the early stage to simply “learning for improving themselves”. The change of educational concept has prompted the Chang clan to quickly complete the transformation of social identity under the alternation of the old and new eras, and smoothly enter the new era, thus continuing the vitality of the Chang family.
