散曲，元代称为“乐府”或“今乐府”，是韵文大家族中的新成员，是继诗、词之后兴起的新诗体。在元代文坛上，它与传统的诗、词样式分庭抗礼，代表了元代诗歌创作的最高成就。作为中华传统文学中一颗璀璨的明珠，元曲中用典手法的大量存在更是传统历史文化的一个凝练而集中的体现。从文化输出的立场而言，准确处理好散曲中用典现象的翻译有着十分重要的意义，既需要译者深厚的文化积累和娴熟的翻译技巧，也需要翻译理论的指导。功能主义翻译目的论就是用“目的”的观点来研究翻译的理论。此理论于1978年由德国学者弗米尔发表阐述，并提出目的规则、连贯规则和忠实规则三个基本原则。本研究即将从目的论角度出发，在现有不同版本英译散曲中采集案例，就案例中的用典现象的英译处理手法进行对比分析研究并据此归纳总结，以试图为元散曲翻译中类似问题的处理积累经验。   

Sanqu, known as "Yuefu" or "Jin Yuefu" in the Yuan Dynasty, is a new member of the rhyming family and a new poetic form that emerged after poetry and ci. In the literary world of the Yuan Dynasty, it stood on an equal footing with the traditional styles of poetry and ci, representing the highest achievement in poetry creation during that time. As a shining gem in the traditional Chinese literature, the abundant use of allusion in Yuan Qu represents a concentrated embodiment of traditional historical and cultural elements. From the perspective of cultural output, it is of great significance to accurately handle the translation of allusion in Sanqu. This requires translators to have profound cultural accumulation and skilled translation techniques, as well as guidance from translation theory. Functional translation skopos theory is a theoretical approach to translation that studies translation from the perspective of "purpose". This theory was proposed by German scholar Vermeer in 1978, and includes three basic principles: skopos rule, coherence rule, and fidelity rule. This study will collect cases from existing English translations of Sanqu from the perspective of skopos theory, compare and analyze the handling of allusions in the cases, and summarize the findings to accumulate experience for dealing with similar problems in the translation of Yuan Sanqu.
