在过去几十年里,英语作为第二语言在全世界范围内有着迅速的发展。大量的英语教材也因此涌入了中国市场。这使得选择一本适合学习者自身需要的教材这项工作变得更加困难。教材评估在这方面起着非常重要的作用。二十世纪末,西方出现了一些关于教材评估方面的理论,然而中国至今还没有自己较完整的评估系统。《大学英语基础教程》是专门为中国少数民族和偏远地区英语零起点的大中专院校学生编写的一套教材。在这篇论文中,作者首先定义了几个概念,接着又列出了现有的一些评估模式、评估表等等。之后,基于上述理论,作者形成了 自己的评估标准对本教材进行了分析评估。评估标准涵盖了教材的组成、编者的意图、学习目的、学习者需求、本教材使用的语言学理论、以及语言知识与技能。最后作者为本教材以后的修改与发展提出 了一些建议。通过评估,作者发现本教材的重点是培养学习者的阅读能力,因而口语、听力和写作练习与培养相对较少。这对于学习者在今后有效使用英语有着一定的影响。所以作者建议本教材应在以后的修改与发展中避免偏重阅读,并在其他技能的培养方面有所改进。 |

In the last few decades, English saw its increasing development as the second language taught all over the world.As a result, a variety of materials for English language teaching (ELT) pour into the English market of China. It makes the decision on choosing a suitable material for one's own need more difficult.For the finding of proper materials,materials evaluation plays a significant role.Since the late 20th century,there have been some influential theories in the western world. Yet, in China, a systematic and scientific evaluative theoretical system has not been constructed. It is therefore important to familiarize ourselves with the theories and apply them in our situation. Essential College English Course(ECEC) is a set of materials used in the universities and colleges in Inner Mongolia, particularly for the students who have no experience of English class before entering higher educational institutions. In this thesis, the author first clarifies some basic terms. Then, some existing models, framework, and checklist of materials evaluation are reviewed. After that, based on what is mentioned above, the author sets up her own criteria, which includes the package of ECEC, what ECEC claims, its and objectives of learning, learner needs, the linguistic view on language applied in ECEC, and the content of grammar, vocabulary, and skills, to evaluate ECEC. Finally, suggestions are made in the hope of possible further development of the material. The evaluation has revealed that the coursebooks focus mostly on reading. This decreases the proportion of speaking, listening, writing, and translating exercises. So ECEC will not make too much contribution to the improvement of those skills.It could affect the learners'future use of English.So improvement should be made in these areas so as to contribute to the further development of students'English competence. |
