Nuwa is one of the most famous goddesses in Chinese folk beliefs. The Shexian county of Hebei province has formed a large-scale and rich system of Nuwa belief traditions centered on the WaHuang palace, and various types of Nuwa narratives are widely circulated and practiced. Based on the perspective of daily life, this thesis analyzes and summarizes the relevant narrative practices of Nuwa belief in Shexian county. From the perspective of Communicative Practice, it investigates how the "Shexian people" as the narrative subject understand, express and maintain the local Nuwa belief through various means in daily life. The thesis starts with the introduction and ends the conclusion. The main body are divided into three chapters. The introduction starts from the thinking of myth narration and genre definition in a field experience, clarifies the origin and research purpose of the topic, sorts out and summarizes the domestic and foreign research on Nuwa myth, belief and folk narration. On the basis of defining the multiple meanings of the concept of "narrative", this thesis will describe and analyze the communication and practice of Nuwa's narration in Shexian County from the perspective of case-related analysis in the speech model with the paradigm of Communicative Practice and "performance-centered". The first chapter gives a general description of Shexian county, the field location, including administrative divisions, natural geography, social economy and folk culture. At the same time, I traced the history of belief in Nuwa in Shexian County according to local documents and inscriptions, showing the spatial layout of the core belief field of WaHuang Palace. Then I focused on the three representative village-level belief circles of Nuwa, and summarized the local belief pattern and cultural space of Nuwa. The second chapter presents the rich behavioral narration and oral tradition of the people in Shexian County around the belief of Nuwa from the perspective of daily life practice. It makes an in-depth description of ritual activities such as praying for vows, children and offering sacrifices to Nuwa. It reflects the complicated communication of different narrative subjects such as believers, inheritors of Intangible Cultural Heritage, local cultural workers and tour guides from the perspective of audience in the performance field, and makes an in-depth analysis and interpretation. The third chapter presents the construction and influence of state power and folk discourse on Nuwa narrative in the context of intangible cultural heritage. It mainly discusses the government's intervention and transformation of Nuwa narrative with official power, and the adaptive changes made by folk narration tradition in this process. At the same time, it explores how to use various techniques and means to adapt Nuwa narrative to contemporary and cultural life under the trend of tourism development. The third chapter presents the production of Nuwa's narration by government and folk discourse in the context of Intangible Cultural Heritage, mainly from two aspects: the limited construction of Nuwa's narration by the intervention of official power and the adaptive changes of folk discourse based on the narration tradition. At the same time, it explores how to use various techniques and means to adapt Nuwa's narrative to contemporary and cultural life under the trend of tourism development. The conclusion reviews the whole text, responds to the questions raised in the introduction and summarizes the intertextual relationship between Nuwa belief and narration. |
