英语是世界上使用最广泛的语言之一,重视中小学生的英语学习不仅是国情所需,也为我们打开了一扇世界之窗,架起我们与世界沟通的桥梁,有助于我们了解世界文化,更好地融入国际组织大家庭。阅读是提升学生英语水平的重要途径,也是初中英语教学的重中之重,升入初中后,阅读难度大幅提升,很多同学对阅读表现出一定程度的畏难情绪,而阅读流畅性作为学生英语阅读能力发展中的关键一环对于阅读能力的培养至关重要。视障学生使用盲文摸读,在阅读方面比普通学生面临更多的困难,因此,有必要探索切实可行的方法帮助视障初中生提升英语摸读流畅性。

研究者采用了重复阅读的教学方法对视障初中生进行阅读教学,旨在检验重复阅读能否提升视障初中生的英语摸读流畅性,探索重复阅读实施的具体方法、策略与经验。重复阅读是阅读者在一定时间内反复阅读相同的材料,直到达到预定的标准或规定的次数的方法,这种方法简单经济,易于操作,国内外研究已经反复证实了重复阅读对普通学生和阅读障碍学生在母语阅读流畅性方面的有效性。然而,盲文摸读与普通阅读相比有许多相似之处,因此,可以尝试将普通教育领域的教学方法应用到视障教育领域。

本研究中的阅读流畅性包括阅读速度、准确率和理解力三个方面。研究者在北京盲校采用个案研究的方法,利用早读时间对三位使用英语盲文摸读的初一年级同学开展了历时三个月的研究,通过重复阅读教学提升了视障学生的英语摸读速度、准确率和理解力,并继续进行了为期三个多月的数据跟踪,证明了重复阅读对于视障学生的英语摸读速度和准确率在迁移效果和非迁移效果方面都有积极作用,在阅读理解能力方面,重复阅读有较好的非迁移效果,在迁移效果方面,对于不同参与者的效果不尽相同,有效程度也需要后续研究的进一步验证。

本研究为一线英语教师提供了切实可行的英语阅读教学方法,也为家庭教育提出了合理化建议。

English is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. Emphasizing the English learning of primary and secondary school students is not only a national requirement but also opens up a window to the world for Chinese people. It helps us understand various aspects of human life and better integrate into the international community. Reading is an important pathway to improve students' English proficiency and is crucial in junior high school English education. Fluency in reading is a key factor in developing reading abilities, especially for visually impaired students who face more challenges in reading using Braille. Therefore, it is necessary to explore practical methods to help visually impaired students improve their fluency in English Braille reading.

Repeated reading is a method where participants repeatedly read the same material within a certain period of time until they reach a predetermined standard or specified number of times. This method is simple, cost-effective, and easy to implement. It has been repeatedly proven by researchers both domestically and internationally to be effective in improving fluency in reading for both typical students and students with reading difficulties. Since Braille reading shares many similarities with regular reading, it is worth trying to apply teaching methods from the field of regular education to the field of visual impairment education.

In this study, reading fluency mainly includes three aspects: reading speed, accuracy, and comprehension. Researchers conducted a three-month case study at Beijing School for the Blind, using morning reading time to research three visually impaired students. We continued to track the data for over three months. The study demonstrated that repeated reading has a positive impact on the English Braille reading speed and accuracy of visually impaired students in terms of transfer and non-transfer effects. In terms of reading comprehension, repeated reading has good non-transfer effects. However, the transfer effects vary among different participants, and the degree of effectiveness needs further verification through subsequent research.

This research provides practical English reading teaching methods for English teachers in both genneral and special schools. It also offers reasonable suggestions for family education. Through the method of repeated reading, teachers can help visually impaired students improve their fluency in English Braille reading and enhance their English reading abilities. Likewise, parents can adopt this method in home education to assist visually impaired students in mastering English reading skills.
