1950年至1954年，中华人民共和国成立之初到日内瓦会议期间，第一次印度支那战争在越南地区打响。基于国民党自身利益的考量，台湾当局密切关注越南问题的演变。从《中央日报》的报道与社论中可以分析出，在奠边府战役之前，台湾当局主要关注法越之间力量博弈、中国共产党如何援助越盟，以及美国对法国殖民主义的援助；在奠边府战役后期，台湾当局对美国与法国的退缩表现出较大的失望和消极情绪，重点开始转移到台湾自身命运，认为美，英，法等西方资本主义阵营国家不够重视在亚洲的战略布局，导致共产主义在亚洲得到扩展。随着越南地区政治和军事局势的演变，台湾当局一边试图与美国等西方国家建立更加密切的“盟友”关系，一边畏惧中共在亚洲的势力不断壮大。在越南问题走向和平解决的过程中，台湾当局对自身未来的命运表现出更多的担忧甚至恐惧。

From 1950 to 1954, from the early establishment of the People's Republic of China to the convening of the Geneva Conference, the First Indochina War broke out in the Vietnam region. The local authorities in Taiwan closely monitored the war situation in Vietnam. Prior to the Battle of Dien Bien Phu, the local authorities in Taiwan primarily focused on the power struggle between France and Vietnam, how the Chinese Communist Party assisted the Viet Minh, and the American assistance to French colonialism. Following the Battle of Dien Bien Phu, the local authorities in Taiwan expressed significant disappointment in the retreat of the United States and France, shifting their focus to Taiwan's own destiny. They believed that the United States, Britain, France, and Russia did not pay enough attention to the strategic layout in Asia, leading to the expansion of communism in Asia. In the midst of this series of changes in Asia, the Kuomintang attempted to establish closer "ally" relationships with Western countries such as the United States, while also fearing the growing influence of the Chinese Communist Party in Asia, showing concern and even fear about their own future. This paper, centered around the "Central Daily," examines the observations and responses of the local authorities in Taiwan, namely the senior members of the Kuomintang, to the evolving situation in the Vietnam.
