《万国公报》被认为是传教士在华所创办的各种报刊杂志中历时最长、发行最广、影响最大的，在近代中国报刊发展史上占有重要位置。在该报存在的 34 年时间里，有许多关于妇女问题的文章。在这些文章中，有的诠释某一西方女性人物形象，有的介绍外国妇女的社会地位和生活习俗，更多的则是批判中国妇女陋俗。本文以这些文章的内容为切入点，运用统计学方法，比较《万国公报》前后两个时期对妇女问题的关注点及其变化。在前人对晚清传教士和近代中国妇女解放运动研究的基础上，分析该报如此关注妇女问题的原因、关注的特点，并总结《万国公报》的中国妇女观。《万国公报》的这些主张虽以传教为出发点，但客观上在近代中国妇女解放运动中起了启蒙的作用。

A Review of the Times played an important role in the development of the modern Chinese press history. It had the longest history, the largest number of publications and the most far-reaching influence in all magazines founded by the western missionaries.The thesis makes a research on the articles about women. The research is intended to explore why and how A Review of the Times paid much attention to women problem. And summarize the view in A Review of the Times on Chinese Women, such as anti-foot-binding. Although the purpose of it is to teaching Chinese people about Christianity, it actually enlightened and promoted the liberation movement of the modern Chinese women.
