美国《生活》周刊（《LIFE》）是在美国广受欢迎的刊物，自创刊起就对中国抗日战争进行了持续的报道。笔者在介绍美国《生活》周刊的创刊、报道内容与报道特点的基础上，梳理杂志对抗日战争时期中国社会观察的图文报道，分析在全面抗战之前、全面抗战爆发、抗战后期与战后三个阶段，杂志从不同角度对中国社会图景的记录，得出战时中国社会状况的相关结论。这些报道也反映出杂志总编辑亨利·卢斯及《生活》杂志对中国抗日战争的价值观：出于人道主义的同情、为了美国的利益、传播美国道德的信仰。这在一定程度上也是美国甚至西方国家对于中国抗日战争的情感、态度，对当今社会有普遍的借鉴意义。

LIFE is a popular magazine in the United States. Since its inception, LIFE has continuously reported on the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. Base on the introduction of the publication, contents and characteristics of LIFE, this paper combs the pictorial reports of Chinese society during the War of Resistance. By analyzing the records of Chinese social landscape from different perspectives in the three stages---before, after the outbreak of nationwide war of resistance against Japanese aggression, the later stage of the war and postwar period, this paper try to draw relevant conclusions about the social life situation of the Chinese people in wartime from the magazine. These reports also reflect the value of LIFE, and the editor-in-chief of the magazine, Henry Luce, including humanitarian sympathy, American interests and the faith to spread American morality. To a certain extent, it is also the feelings and attitudes of the United States and even the Western countries towards China's War of Resistance against Japan, which has a universal reference significance for today.
