数千年来，由于交通状况的不便，新疆与内地的各方面交流一直受到限制。民国时期，新疆商人朱炳建立了新绥长途汽车运输公司，开辟了新疆至内地的若干条客运、货运汽车路线，其中尤以新疆至绥远的汽车路线最为重要。从此，民国时期新疆与内地的交通运输状况有了较大的改善。在该线路运营的短暂几年间，新绥汽车公司通过运送物资、运载旅客，特别是运输土特产品、工业产品、生活用品、文化书籍、信件包裹、求学学生，促进了新疆在经济、社会、邮政、文化、教育、国防等多方面的发展，为开发边疆做出了积极的贡献。但由于历史条件的限制，这种贡献依然是有限的。

With poor transportation connections, all aspects of communication between Xinjiang and the Inland had been limited since the ancient times. In the period of the Republic of China, Zhu Bing, who was a businessman from Xinjiang, founded the Xinjiang-Suiyuan Auto Transport Company. The company opened up a number of auto routes for passengers and freight, in which the route from Xinjiang to Suiyuan was the most important one. Since then, the transportation condition between Xinjiang and the Inland had been greatly improved during the time of the Republic of China. In the short few years of the route operating, by delivering goods and passengers, especially by transporting specialties of Xinjiang, industrial products, daily necessities, books, letters, parcels, students, the company promoted the development of Xinjiang in economic, social, post, culture, education, national defense and many other aspects, which made a positive contribution to the development of the borderland. However, due to historical conditions, this contribution is still limited.
