对于学习一门语言来说,阅读能力的培养是十分必要的。研究者们一直在探索与阅读表现相关的因素,试图通过调节这些因素以提升阅读能力。模糊容忍度和词汇量正是其中被广泛研究的两个因素。这两个因素都被发现和阅读能力有着正相关关系,但鲜有研究把这三者放在一起来探讨它们的相互作用。本研究通过调查非英语专业本科生的模糊容忍度,词汇量以及在六级考试中取得的阅读成绩,旨在发现当下非英语专业本科生的模糊容忍度及词汇量情况,并试图探讨三者之间的交互作用。 通过描述性分析,本研究发现,非英语专业本科生的模糊容忍度处于中等水平;大多数学生的词汇量在4000词到6000词之间。通过皮尔逊相关分析,本研究发现,在模糊容忍度和阅读成绩之间存在低等程度正相关关系,在词汇量与阅读成绩之间存在中等程度正相关关系,在模糊容忍度和词汇量之间存在低等相关关系。本研究还发现,随着词汇量水平的提升,模糊容忍度和阅读成绩间的相关性在减弱。本研究的成果对阅读学习有一定的指导意义,也对进一步的理论研究有一定的启发意义。
外文摘要:
Developing reading comprehension ability is necessary for learning a language. Scholars are constantly exploring the correlative factors affecting the reading performance and trying to change students’ reading performance by adjusting these factors. Tolerance of ambiguity (TOA) and vocabulary size are the very two factors that are studied a lot with students’ reading performance. Both of them have been found with a positive correlation with reading comprehension ability. But rare studies put the three factors together to find out how they affect each other. By investigating TOA, vocabulary size and reading scores in CET-6 of non-English-major undergraduates, this study aims at the current situation of undergraduates’ TOA and vocabulary size and the interactive relationships among TOA, reading scores and vocabulary size through quantitative analysis. By descriptive analysis, it can be found that the general state of TOA of undergraduate is at a middle level. For vocabulary size, most students are with 4000 to 6000 words. By Pearson Correlation Analysis, it is found that a low positive correlation between TOA and reading scores, a middle positive correlation between vocabulary size and reading scores, and a low correlation between TOA and vocabulary size exist. It also shows the higher level of vocabulary size, the lower correlation between TOA and reading scores. The findings of this study have a definite directive significance to language reading learning and an enlightening significance to further theoretical studies.
