大学理想是大学的灵魂。大学校长作为大学发展的最高指挥官和决策者，他所拥有的大学理想和为此所付出的努力是决定一所大学是否能够成为一所好的大学的重要因素。在我国建设一流大学的进程中，既不能忘记向西方学习，更不应忘记向我们自己的历史学习。张伯苓作为我国近代大学发展历史中一个不可忽视的人物，就是一个值得我们深入的进行研究与学习的对象。本文即选取张伯苓作为大学理想及其实现的一个个案进行充分研究。论文首先通过对史料的整理和分析，从大学的社会功能、大学的培养目标、大学的教师管理、大学的资金筹措、大学的治理等五方面出发，对张伯苓的大学理想及其实现过程做了详细叙述。其次对张伯苓为什么会拥有并实现这样的大学理想进行研究。此部分从史料出发并结合自己的理解与分析，将张伯苓为什么会拥有这样的大学理想的原因分为中国传统文化影响、师长的影响、西方教育考察经历及所在时代背景等四方面进行分析；对于实现这些理想的原因的分析则从时代特征、所处环境、人际交往以及自身素质等四个纬度进行，并最终得出结论：张伯苓自身素质所构成的“个人魅力”及由此形成的“个人魅力权威”是其大学理想得以成功的关键因素。最后，论文总结了张伯苓大学理想之所以能够实现给我们所带来的启示，对大学校长应如何做、政府应如何做、大学校长与政府应有怎样的关系给出了自己的建议。

The idea of university is university’s soul. As the commander-in-chief and decision-maker of university, president’s ideal is to be decided if this university can be great. We should never forget our own history, neither western history, while we are building the world-class university. As an unforgettable man in university development history, Chang Poling is worth to further research and study. This is why author choose Chang Poling as this “the idea of a university and its realization” study’s object. This study is beginning from organizing and analyzing historical materials to describe Chang Poling’s idea of Nan Kai university and its realization from five aspects included university’s social function, students’ cultivate aim, faculty’s management, funds raise and university’s administration. Then the study is focus on why Chang Poling had such ideal and how he realized it. According to understanding and analyzing the historical materials, the reasons that he had such ideal are effects from Chinese traditional culture, his teachers, western country education review and study experiences and times which he was in. And times characteristic, place where he lived, interpersonal relationships and his character caused the realization of his ideal. The author thinks this is his “charisma authority” is the main factor of all above reasons. At the end of this thesis is suggestion for presidents, government and the relationship between them.
