中国是个多宗教国家，其中，佛教对中国文化的影响最为深远。宗教慈善，尤其是佛教慈善，更成为构成中国社会的四种传统基本慈善类型之一。进入21世纪，中国民间慈善公益组织日益发展，越来越成为解决各类社会问题不可或缺的力量。而随着以佛教为代表的宗教事业在中国的发展和复兴，宗教类慈善公益组织也成为慈善公益事业的重要参与类型。　　本研究以中国重要的藏传佛教寺院北京雍和宫为个案，采取文献研究、半结构式访谈及参与式观察等研究方法，全面展现雍和宫当代慈善公益事业的状况，并通过文献和佛教中与慈善公益相关的教义解释和历史回顾，分析总结雍和宫慈善公益事业的特征，进而探讨雍和宫慈善公益事业存在的问题和未来的发展方向。本研究旨在深化佛教慈善公益事业的研究，促进佛教慈善公益事业的发展；同时为其他慈善公益组织发展提供可能的新视野和新思路，形成不同慈善公益模式的良性互动，推动社会创新。

China is a multi-religious country where Buddhism exerts the most far-reaching influence on Chinese culture. Religious charity, especially Buddhist charity is listed as one of the four basic charity types in traditional Chinese society. In the 21st century, the Chinese civil charitable organizations increasingly grow and become an indispensable force to solve social problems. Meanwhile, with the development and revival of different religions in China, Buddhism in particular, charitable organizations with religious backgrounds currently also play an important role. This thesis is a case study of the Yonghegong Lama Temple in Beijing, which is a typical urban monastery and an important Tibetan Buddhist temple in China. Research methods of literature, interviews and participant observation are taken to paint a complete picture of Yonghegong’s contemporary philanthropy and public welfare undertakings. The literature review of related theories, doctrines and history is added to analyze and summarize characteristics and mechanisms of the Lama temple’s undertakings, as well as to further explore the possible future development of its charity and welfare cause. Through a case study this thesis aims to deepen current research on the Buddhist charity and public welfare cause in China, and to provide a useful reference for the promotion of Buddhist philanthropy and public service. The thesis may also offer a possible new vision and some new ideas for the development of other charity and public welfare organizations. Positive interactions among different charity types can promote a social innovation.
