林语堂是一位深受中西双重文化影响的著名学者。从他的翻译理论和翻译实践中，我们可以看到对于中西文化的态度。他对翻译中文化要素的重视比起现代西方翻译理论中的“文化转向”早了近五十年。但是，对于林语堂的研究并没有得到应有的重视，特别是在他的翻译思想方面。本文探讨了林语堂在他的翻译理论和翻译作品《浮生六记》中所表现出的文化态度，并着重分析了林语堂如何在翻译作品中使西方读者更好地理解中国文化，说明了作为文学大家的林语堂在跨文化交流中有着自己独特的翻译策略，并由此证明文学作品中的文化因素是可译的。 本文一共分为五个部分，包括第一部分和第五部分结束语。第二部分总结了翻译研究中的文化关注，关于林语堂和他的翻译思想的研究以及关于《浮生六记》一本的研究。第三部分介绍了林语堂的文化选择以及产生这种选择的原因, 并从从文化传播者和文化认同两方面介绍了林语堂的翻译理论中所表现的文化态度。第四部分以林译《浮生六记》为例，介绍了林语堂在翻译实践中所采取的策略以及由此表现的文化态度。

Lin Yutang is a bi-cultural scholar. His translation theory and translation practice expresses his culture attitude in translation. His awareness of culture in his translation is much earlier than the “culture turn” in western translation studies. However, the studies about him is not received much attention, especially in the aspect of his translation. This thesis illustrates his culture attitude in his theory and his translation of Six Chapters of a Floating Life, and analyzes how Lin make Chinese culture understood by western readers, showing that Lin Yutang has his own strategies to make translation match with the culture of source language and the culture of target language, which, as a consequence, proves that culture-related elements in the literary works can be well translated. 　　The thesis consists of five parts, with the first part as Introduction and the fifth part as Conclusion. The second part discusses previous research related to “culture turn”, mainly about descriptive and cultural studies approaches to translation. Lin Yutang’s culture identity and culture choice is introduced in the third part, as well as Lin’s culture attitude in his translation theory, and the forth part mainly appreciates his cultural attitude in translating Six Chapters of a Floating Life, with the analysis of his translation strategies in culture-related elements in the book.
